Maybe Ballast Point's Indra Kunindra would be the closest I've seen to a curry stout but I haven't see that one around in years.
I liked this one a lot, thought it was more of a coffee stout than a coconut one which is fine with me (even though I do like coconut)! https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/33901/626553/?ba=bluejacket74#lists Happy stouturday!
Must be too many roasty stouts for me today(8 half {shared})beers over several hours, because the dark coffee bean roast flavor is killing me. Some coconut aroma, and flavor, but, given the name, I expected more. Again, I recognize I am ≈50oz in, but...
Jet black inky looking pour, nice frothy brown head, some nice lacing. Snot locker says artificially flavored peanut candy, there's some chocolate buried down there and a bit of coffee. Sickly sweet finish. Smooth creamy feel, carbonation left after the pour. Another overly sweet, added junk laden stout. My score was a resounding 3.32!
Blank ink pour on this one, with an equally dark head, relative to most. First whiff seemed somewhat Mounds-like but as I sit with it I am getting more dark chocolate and chocolate liqueur with something more peanut-butter like than coconut in the nose. A nutty coffee opens for me, with a dark chocolate bitterness that is countered maybe a tad too well by thick malt sweetness, especially in the late taste into the aftertaste. I can find coconut because I am looking for it, but I think it is what is feeding into what I am getting as a sprinkling of artificial sweetener. The GF said it was "pretty good but more chocolatey than coconutty."
Time to get my drip on. Lovely notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and peanut butter. There's maybe a touch of vanilla and coconut. Full, rich mouthfeel with a nice roasty peanut finish. A pretty solid stout. Quite good!
I went for this to finish up the last of the peanut butter stouts in the box. My first impression came from the aroma of peanut butter. However, as it warms up, I am getting much more of a chocolate flavor with some mild notes of coconut. I do get some coffee flavor but the chocolate dominates. To me, this is not a bad thing as I prefer that over a strong peanut butter flavor. Overall, not too shabby!
Great combination, not often encountered, of chocolate malts, coffee, peanut butter, vanilla, and coconut. Some sweetness and some bitterness that seem to swirl around in combination and ultimately work well together. Definitely some higher ABV& here but not to a burn-the-mouth level. The vanilla and coconut work to bring in sweetness, the coffee to bring in bitterness, and the peanut butter to bring in earthiness. The chocolate malts bounce off all for balance and to introduce seldom encountered flavor samplings. Quite unique to my palate.
Huh - guess I never got this in the box. Recounts... yep, two FLUXes, zero on this one. It's alright - glad to read the reviews on this one. I'll look forward to trying it out someday... but these FLUXes kept me happy. Cheers... still have a few to work through on the big boy box.
This was an awesome beer but did have a bit of harsh bitterness at the end. The head was nice and thick and the beer had a rich chocolate aroma with some spiciness too. For as much as I enjoyed it, I don't have any notes on coconut or peanut butter.
Last couple beers were ok so I didn't have high expectations for Coconut Drip but was I wrong. A wonderful imperial stout. Great way to end the day L: Pours dark like coffee with a small head. A: vanilla, coffee and chocolate T: sweet, chocolate with hint of vanilla and coffee F: smooth and silky like drinking a chocolate shake O: wonderful imperial stout that's like a desert.
This is my last one. Didn't post for some of the others since it's this late in the game, but hey. It's worth celebrating. I did not expect this to be this good. I didn't read the label at first, so the peanut butter caught me by surprise, but it balances quite well with everything else. Good coffee but not overly bitter and plenty of vanilla and coconut, I think. It is unique among the rest of the box for how desserty it is - it does make me think of a fancy coffee drink or chocolate shake. Quite balanced with a little bit of heat at the end.
Love the strong coffee in this one. 4.48/5 rDev +5.9% look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5 A: Pours an opaque yet still clear thick viscous jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark chestnut brown + dark golden yellow + dark amber + dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense creamy foamy dark mocha head that slowly reduces to a large patch of very slightly mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed. S: Moderate to strong aromas of dark roast coffee + dark chocolate over the top of slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted + toasted + caramel + chocolate malts with moderate amounts of lactose sweetness. Light to moderate aromas of vanilla + peanut butter + coconut. Hints of earthy hops. T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + toasted + caramel + chocolate malts with moderate amounts of lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of dark roast coffee + dark chocolate. Finally there are light to moderate flavors of vanilla + peanut butter + coconut along with hints of earthy hops. Slightly stronger than moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness. M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slick and smooth, very thick. O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a really pleasant thick + slick mouthfeel. Enjoyable with a really nice combination of vanilla + chocolate + peanut butter + coconut along with tons of coffee. Well balanced between the sweetness of the lactose + malts and the roasty bitterness,.
