    SNAPPY is a great, great American pale ale but thanks to a trade with @superspak I got to try Zombie Dust and was beyond impressed.

    Done with work for the day and just finished replacing a light switch that's been on my to-do list for awhile. Now relaxing with a Hippie Chick before starting the dinner preparation.

    Oh hey there BAs. Thanks @Ozzylizard for another thread here. Stars and planets are realigning to bring us changing weather and some damn good beers. This is a very thoughtful and tasty drop: Pryes Miraculum Midwest IPA. A bit creamy, EZ drinking, very lightly sharp. Sold! Cool graphics. Cheers to beers![​IMG]

    1) Sprecher Doppelbock (8.0%): A Doppelbock from Wisconsin with flavors of rich caramel, bread, banana, and chocolate. Rich, syrupy, and sweet.
    versus
    2) Lupulin Doppelbock (8.0%): A Doppelbock from Minnesota with flavors of rich bread, caramel. Yeasty, bready mouthfeel. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Sprecher Doppelbock:     A fun style to enjoy this time of year. Rich German bread, banana, caramel, and syrupy flavors. Lupulin drinks surprisingly clean. The flavors are a bit mild, but the mouthfeel is bready, yeasty, and excellent. The flavors on these two evolve a bit as they warm. Sprecher had more rich flavors, but sort of syrupy and showed the booze a bit. Lupulin gets the win for drinking more bready, yeasty, and clean.

    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

    Lightly cloudy (not a thick New England style haziness), partially clear, golden body; thick and tightly frothy white head, semi-creamy. Very nice classic west coast India pale ale aroma, fruity and floral. Well-rounded malt base, grainy with biscuit undertones; bold hop bitterness. Heavy mouthfeel; sticky on the palate.

    A generally very nice old-school west coast-style IPA tongue ripper.

    It's the start of the carnival in Cologne today, but I'm not a big fan of crowds, so I'm staying far away from that. I'd rather drink at home anyway, where the beer and music is better and I don't have to deal with piss-drunk morons. Notebably less piss-drunk girls in skimpy costumes around though, unfortunately.

    Also, this Pale Ale is a lot better than I remembered it, probably fresher.
