NoDa Brewing Company in Charlotte, NC has teamed up with Cheerwine to make Cheerwine Ale. A wheat ale infused with Cheerwine Cherry Soda. For the uninitiated, Cheerwine is an iconic cherry flavored soda that's been produced since 1917 by the Salisbury, NC based company. This beer is not in my wheelhouse because I pretty rarely drink sodas and I don't like cherry flavor but I'm curious if anyone has tried it yet and what they think. I know a lot of people do like cherry flavor so this may go over well. Your comments and smart remarks are welcome.

Could pair really nicely with some BBQ

You know, you're probably right. Wouldn't have thought of that. In fact, I wonder if it would work well as an ingredient in BBQ sauce? (I'm always looking for ways to use beer in food recipes).

I would agree that it would likely work well there also. I know Cheerwine works well in BBQ sauce.

    Oh interesting.
I think Cheerwine is pretty gross, however my wife loves it due to some positive association from when she was younger. I might have to attempt to track this down for brownie points.

Lol! You'd be a good man for that. I took a swig off a Cheerwine my children had years ago. It was a no go for me. I'm also curious what it retails for. I assume they'll try to get a premium for it.

While I like Cheerwine (even if I only drink soda a couple of times per year) but this beer doesn't really sound appetizing to me. On the other hand, Noda is pretty reliable and I've had nothing from them that wasn't at least decent, so maybe I'll try a sample of this if its on tap somewhere.

That's not too bad for what may be a limited release.

I've never had anything from Noda but I've heard they are solid. It'll be interesting to see if it goes flat or not (pun intended).

I like the Soda. Have it every time I go back to NC, this doesn't sound like a must try for me

As someone who doesn't drink soft drinks 98% of the time...I will occasionally submit to the wonderfulness that is Cheerwine (and occasionally a Sun Drop)... I won't lie.. I would grab this as soon as I saw it

You gave me another thought/question about crossover appeal. Would someone who normally doesn't drink beer but likes Cheerwine give this a try? I can definitely see where a beer drinker who likes cherry flavored drinks would.

I don't think so. I can't remember if Cheerwine was in the actual name.

That's almost in "I'd give it a try at that price" territory. Maybe < 7.99 for me.

Apparently, we've had one brave soul review it so far on BA. It's garnered a surprising 3.56 rating on that app that will remain unnamed.
