Heads Up: Karma System Revamp!

More effort and more value to the site getting rewarded; makes sense to me. As someone who works in an information field, splitting reviews and ratings in this way simply isn't how my mind works. Thanks for being open to suggestions but also for shutting them down when appropriate so that you can finalize the rollout.

Sorry for beating a dead horse, but something isn't clicking for me and I haven't had my "Aha!" moment.

When ratings/reviews points are accrued, could there be a scenario where accrual reversing or a clawback of points would come into play? Or is it once achieved, always achieved?

Suppose a ratings drop by one (due to an additional review) brings one below a previously achieved threshold, like from 250 to 249.

Nor am I. really. It's more an interest in the mechanics, coupled with some lingering OCD.

Same here. It will be interesting to see how the points align with the previous monikers (maybe that's another tidbit I've missed)

Rating = Rating Karma
Review = Review + Rating Karma

I agree with the mindset of you cannot review a beer without rating it. On the site you literally cannot submit a review without a numerical rating. A rating is a more thorough and thought-out process and takes 10x the time of simply rating the beer. If I were chasing Karma, I can click 5 boxes and rate a beer in five seconds. A review though (possible character minimum?) tells much more of the story and should be worth more and encompass a rating. In my opinion, that's what makes this site great and better than a quick rating and picture on Untappd. I think it should include the rating Karma too. Anyway, my two cents.

Well said. Personally I'm already very near old poo-bah with 1485, was fighting for becoming even half. So nothing to complain about

 

Its obvious a lot of work went into this so many thanks from someone who spends a lot of time here. Im here enough that my wife is suspicious that I have a girlfriend who's into beer.
