What has changed in STL?

    I LOVED my last visit to St. Louis in 2018, the beer, the food (bbq and pizza!!) and the fun things to do were a treat. I realized it has been far too long to be away from that fair city!
    So what has changed in the last 5 years? New breweries and taprooms? Positive changes to existing beer locales? Hot styles to try? If the mods don’t care, bbq joints? Is there a snowballs’ chance in hell I could try Anabasis in April?!?

    Given our household’s love of barleywine, I think it is our current white whale. The thrill of the hunt calls!

    Highly recommend the pizza at UCBC on Manchester. It's not STL-style (this is a feature, not a bug), but I rate it up there with any others in town.

    Modern's new space is fantastic, though I'm partial to 2nd Shift's low-key outdoor patio.

    Shoot me a PM if you can't line up a bottle. I have an extra I don't mind parting with.

    I might not have the dates correct, but it looks like Balkan Treat Box opened in 2019 (although they had a food truck in 2017 or earlier). I will visit Side Project and Balkan Treat Box multiple times whenever I'm in STL next.

    This is STL weekend coming up! Got a great itinerary I am excited about. I see that perennial has a second location but it looks like more of a restaurant concept, is it worth hitting or should I just stick to the original?

    If you are visiting for beer, I would skip Perennial on Lockwood. The original Perennial has a much better beer selection. However, if you need a place to eat, I would highly recommend them. Best fried fish I've ever had. Also kid friendly if you are traveling with kids.

    I also want to echo what someone else said. Balkan Treat box is as much of a "must visit" as Side Project.

    Anytime I've visited St. Louis in the past, my time has been spent at Side Project. It sounds like I'll be visiting there sometime later this month or next with someone who doesn't enjoy beer - can anyone recommend a bar or brewery with a great tap list, but that also offers mixed drinks...?

    The bridge, hair of the dog, crows nest and the whiskey ring are all good places to visit in stl
