It's called 'Thousand Oaks' but I kinda like '1000 oaks' better

Wade's Wines was a decent spot when I lived down there a decade ago. Assume there's more options there now.

I stopped at Stagecoach Liquors a couple years ago and it had a solid selection

I dropped by a couple of months ago, it's still one of the best selections in the area. In addition to some of the excellent options there's also a nice collection of some of the more local brews too that you won't find outside the region.

It's been about 6-8 months since I've been to Wade's Wines. Also one of the better places in the area, and it has a that nice bar area in there too.

I've heard Bottle & Pint (just a few hundred yards from Stagecoach Liquors) is a good place to stop as well, but each time that I've been by there they were closed. Looks like they open at 2 p.m. every day and I just happened to be there before then.

There's always Total Wine & More in that area too, if you feel like checking them out.

On a side note, although it's not a "bottle shop", I'd highly recommend stopping by Enegren Brewing in Moorpark. It's only an easy 10-12 minute drive from Thousand Oaks, and they're one of the best lager breweries in the country. They do sell cans on site, as well as have a good tap list and pleasant area inside or outside to enjoy them in.

And if your friend is in a barbecue mood, there's Wood Ranch BBQ just a minute away from Enegren.

What exactly are you looking for?

    Bottle Logic?
    Fremont?

    Something else?

I've got access to Fremont and bottle logic. I'm hoping to get a 4x or two of Kern river ipas muled back.

Those may even be available at the whole foods down there. I stopped at the thousand oaks whole foods last fall and I think they had some kern river beer on the shelf

Kern river? Can order and have them shipped to your friend. Won't need to drive around.

If they're on the shelf somewhere though it would save like 25$ if all you want is 2 4 packs

Yeah, if it's fresh. So rare to find fresh ipas unless from a brewery. Or at least it is in that/my area.

Whole Foods does carry decent stuff thats usually fresh. Also have him check Trader Joes in the area.

Love the "1000 Oaks " thing , too.

Unfortunately, latest climate models predict it will only be three hundred and thirty three oaks by 2050

Bumping this thread from way back...
One of my beer buds will be heading to 1000 Oaks this weekend for a concert at the civic center. I havent decided to go yet. Probably more not going than going since the drive is like 2+ hours with traffic on a Friday. Anyways, any recommendations in the area for hoppy beers and food? I only know of Tarantula Hill. Never been or had their beers. He enjoys his hazy's and west coast. Thx.

Thats basically it. Not much up there, unless you drive north to Moorpark and Enegren. They do have a German restaurant attached to the building in the same alley way with seating. The food and beers at T Hill are good though. Crown and Anchor pub is in Thousand Oaks which is pretty good for English food and beers. Only other thing would be Blue Palms in Lake Balboa area on the drive up from LA, but you would probably just add to the time on the road with traffic.

Over the hill is Topa Topa in Camarillo too. Probably too far of a drive.

Tarantula Hill usually has a few hazy's and WC that are all solid and the food is good.
