Ok, I'll try one more time...

Over the last 15 years or so, I've reviewed pretty much every beer I've tried, yet at my favorite beer store 15 minutes away there are hundreds of new to me beers just waiting to be ticked. If I had been as vigilant about reviewing places over the last decade and a half, what would I have to do now to find hundreds of new places to review?

Places are tougher ticks than beers...

Are there negative points for asking too many questions about beer karma?

 

I joined BA mostly to keep track of the beers I've tried and to have a portable (app) method of checking. My reviews are all in a database at home, but that wasn't helpful when I was at a store trying to remember if I had tried something already. BA has fulfilled that need very well. Although I became a Poo Bah a long time ago, I didn't think I really cared about the titles; my main purpose was satisfied.
However, I'm surprised to find that I'm on tenterhooks to see what my title and rank will be in the grand finale. This has been fun, thanks Tod.

Silence about karma is yesterday, we are living in a new era! Let's see if the beer gods approve.

 

Since the karma was gone I was shocked how often I looked for it when reading posts from people I didn't recognize. I thought I pretty much ignored it, but once it was gone I realized how much I actually looked it.

 

Yes, it's a way to get to know a poster. How did they get the karma? The profile tells.

 

Just one data point. I found myself looking also at the date they joined. If we got rid of both of those data points, I'd just have to accept what people said at face value.

I agree, reviewing places, particularly a high number of states or countries takes a lot of effort.

I also find the place reviews very helpful when traveling to quickly look up the best beer bars or breweries when in a new city. I also miss the "nearby" mapping feature.

Yea I was confused by this, I paid but then made poobah so I thought it was complimentary.

The titles went away and it expired, so I paid the 10$ again this morning. Not sure if I had to or not but oh well it’s 10$ for a site I use a lot and get a lot out of.

 

Just did the same for the same reasons.
