Good day BAs na thanks to @AzfromOz for starting today's thread - I enjoyed the descriptor "Shampoo-ey"! And to @rgordon for tracking the song - saved me the trouble since I now have a mind like a steel colander.

Well. It's now 25F/-4C and snowing after being in the mid-60s and sunny yesterday. Took Mrs. Lizard to her quilting coven/meeting further out into the boonies than where we actually live and am scheduled to pick her up sunday.

Today's New Breakfast Beer:



A passable Braggot, maybe, being only the third I've ever tried. Although, a half-century ago when I started home-brewing, I made mostly meads and saki in an open 6 gallon crock under the kitchen table. Mrs. Lizard won't let me get away with that any longer. Rating 3.8. rDev 0.0%.

 

As I await my Pliny the Younger deflouration on Sunday, I am starting my Friday morning off right with a Founders Breakfast Stout. An absolute delight on a beautiful 60 degree morning in the Northeast (I thought it was F***ing February?!?!?!?)

 

It is F***ing February?!?!?!? here in western PA! Yesterday, however, was May.

Drinking Jack’s Abby Sunny Ridge. Today it’s cold out but sunny, this beer skunks amazingly fast in the sun

 

Starting off a very rare Friday off drinking this. Cold as heck outside at -1 (-18.3C). At least we only got a foot of snow instead of the 2 feet predicted.

Poured from the can it is a very clear pouring golden color. There's lots of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. The head is 2 finger, white, fluffy looking, and has decent retention. There's a bit of lacing on the glass as the head dissipates.
Nose is very weak. I just get a very faint grain aroma on it.
There's more flavor than the nose let on. The main flavor is grain. I get a faint floral flavor as well as an earthy flavor right away. Slight bitterness on the backside.
Body is ok, somewhat lighter.
Interesting beer, but not one I'd get again.

 

G'day all!

I picked this Crowler up yesterday from Mountain Hops Brewhouse. It is a Belgian Golden Strong Ale. It has some good Belgian characteristics but falls short of being great. I gave the brewer my thoughts and he kind of agreed. He said that he will try using a different Belgian yeast strain next time.

I have had the beer and agree with your assessment. It was gifted to me. I would not turn it down if offered but probably would not buy it.

 

We had a high of 80 yesterday. The high forecast for tomorrow is 40. A 40 degree difference in just two days!
