Im back to share my thoughts on a nother beer from the BIG STOUTS box. This is Firestone Walker Paraboloid. 15% ABV, aged in whiskey barrels for 2 years.
I think I only have one more from the 12 beers to finish. Glad to keep sharing these with the imperial stout crew, although I think tomorrow is a barleywine day for me as I feel I have been shirking duties over there too. But tonite, Its Stout Time!

    onto my review:

Sampling a 2022 vintage of this beer poured at cellar temp into my snifter. Part of the Big Stouts box from BA.
The beer is in a 12 oz stubby bottle and pours a rich cola brown into my glass. A creamy dense beige to tan head of 1 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy edge layer and some wispy surface covering soon after the pour.
Aroma on this is robust! I get dark chocolate, tobacco, charred wood, roasted malt, molasses and some whiskey. Nose is also black peppery spicy heat. No hint of any hop character.
First sip reveals a fairly thick body and sticky texture with fine tingly carbonation. Beer does leave a bit of residue on my lips with each sip.
Flavor is similar to the nose advertisements. I get dark chocolate, roasted notes and some tobacco hits. Moves to a whisky note that lingers long after each swallow. No hint of any hops and I do get a bit of spicy booze with accompanying warmth after each swallow. The warmth isnt really heat nor does it slow down my consumption of this 15% brew. I suspect this will definitely catch up with me by the end of the sampling. Glad to have tried this one as I do enjoy it quite a bit as a straight forward big boozy barrel aged imperial stout.
Well worth picking up a bottle. No surprises here.
    4.5 in the BA DB

Opening the second Tweak from the pack and it's pretty good but I'm not in love.

This version is 13.1% ABV. It's kind of thin overall, in flavor and body, with little barrel presence. Up front I get a moderately strong mocha flavor that is quite nice. The finish is an ashy, bitter coffee note that, while it's not entirely unpleasant, doesn't leave me craving more. There is a little whiskey throughout and maybe oak at the end. I should add that the coffee in the aroma is more balanced and well incorporated than in the flavor.

I wish I could compare this to previous batches, but I've never had this before. I remember seeing on shelves years ago, but that was when I was not willing to shell out $15 for a small bottle. It's hard to believe this is what folks have raving about though. I look forward to hearing from people who've had this before.

Just like I was suspecting. Same label, same name, same gold foil...completely different beer. That is not what it used to be.

Sent to me by @sulldaddy on our last trade.

First beer ever from Barreled Souls.
Extended Aged Deep Space aged 20 months in Barton Bourbon Barrels clocking in at 16 2%
    Post Workout walkin beer
Maple, Chocolate Syrup , Molasses and Graham Crackers are the dominant flavors in this.
A little sweet as it warms bordering the Non Resistance zone but it doesn't cross it and in this rainy weather it's a nice desserty treat for me

TG - DB Assassin (bourbon/apple brandy)

damn good. the dark fruits often time found in assassin are replaced by sweet apple and apple brandy notes. the barrel is there for days. thick mouthfeel. this one was top notch.

    cheers!

    Firestone-Walker's Imperial Walker's Reserve.

A very nice beer if you enjoy some smoke in your brews. The thinner porter body lends itself well to the ashy smoke bite and the sweet booziness. I'm liking this one a lot and feel like this bottle is better integrated than the one I first sampled 4ish months ago. I think I have 1 left that I may try to hang on to until at least the early fall

Dire Wolf stout aged in Cabernet barrels that had been used to finish 15 year old George Dickel. Cheers.

Seems all to common these days. I've heard rumors these past months about the possibility of Founders reintroducing CBS into distribution and I'm scared for what it may have become. Cheers.

Where y'all at? Oh, it has only been 15 minutes since posting last. Enjoying Burial Brewing's Skillet Donut Stout, a nice roasty coffee beans flavored beer with a touch of oats, molasses, and lactose. This one is an annual four-pack pickup for me.
    Cheers!

[IMG] Purrkatory coffee stout from Fat Orange Cat/XII Percent. Smooth body, good coffee flavor from the real cold brew added. Some complexity from the base beer. Overall, very good.

    @arizcards You rang?
Tupps Brewing - Full Grown Beast outta Texas.
This is one of my all time favorite BA Stouts. Heavy on the Coffee Roast and Dark Chocolate Bitterness profile and noce barrel influence to push you through. The 16% ABV ain't too bad either!

Finishing the last of my Willetized at it passes the 11 month mark and I've got to say i feel like it's not holding up very well. I really wish they would have released this one when it was actually fresh. It's still a fine and enjoyable stout but I feel like the flavors are kind of falling apart
