    Spade. Harry Spade.

I've been a beer drinker since the early 90s, or roughly 30 years now. I generally prefer what might be considered classic styles but will try any style at least once. Don't pay much attention to trends; I've never once in my life been called trendy. Although, I did grow a goatee about a year before every other American male...

I don't recall why I joined here in March of 2006, most likely to ask a question, but didn't use the site much until recent years. It's a quality establishment and an oasis in the otherwise depressing expanse of the internet. I also like lists and enjoy ticking things off them.

Outside of BA I've been married since 1997, owned the same house since 1999, and have 2 kids. Been playing guitar since 1987, in and out of bands over the decades, and both kids have played instruments in one capacity or another.

I get bored easily, so I've had lots of jobs and hobbies. The most stupid fun job was flagging traffic for the local phone company in 1995. Also enjoy history, model cars, model rockets, baseball, billiards, and probably a lot of stuff I'm forgetting.

Also, a fan of American muscle cars, especially Pontiacs. Currently enjoying a 1998 Firebird 5-speed convertible.[IMG]

Nice introduction. I keep pretending to grow a goatee. Partly for the challenge, mostly just to irritate my wife. I joke, I joke. The irritation is a bonus.

If I wasn't irritating my wife she would think there was a problem.

She once strained her eye mid roll. Even the dog rolls her eyes at me. Ha!

Things we have in common, then. I've been married since 1997 and have two kids. But one plays trombone, and the other viola, and I have to think that's an unusual configuration.

I've had a goatee since the mid 90's, I think. Before that I'd periodically shave out the middle and make it a fu manchu. At one point, in the early 80's, it was braided and had beads in it because... well, because I don't really remember why.

My goatee was particularly stupid because I have blonde hair but my eyebrows and beard are black. By the way, let me know if I'm over-sharing, 'k? Anyway, my hair's still blond but my beard has gone mostly grey, so I shaved my goatee off for New Years.

I've always thought that flagging looked like a fun job, at least when the weather's nice. My ambition at one time was to work in a tollbooth, but one of the automatic ones where people threw their coins in the basket and you just sat in the booth.

Nice car, Harry Spade. Is that the original color? Nice intro too.

I figure this is the forum for over-sharing, so no worries there.

All my friends thought my goatee was ridiculous, and then a year later they each had one. So a few years later I wore a mutton chops-mustache combo. No one in my circle copied that one.

Flagging was a trip, especially on the back roads where there were maybe 3 cars a day. And if you think you see some lousy drivers when you're on the road, try standing along one for 8 hours. The best was the little old lady who drove right through the other guy's stop sign, clipped his hip, and knocked him about 10 feet. We were done for the day and I drove him to the doctor.

My son played bassoon for years until his asthma started interfering. Now he plays bass and dabbles with guitar and drums. The daughter played flute, saxophone, and ukulele but has bounced around trying all sorts of activities. It's been a fun ride so far.

Thanks. Yep, that's the factory paint. When my youngest turned 16 the Mrs. said we needed to get her a car. I said oh no, I'm getting myself a car and she can drive the 4-cylinder grocery cart. Found the Firebird online in Omaha, sent them a check, and had it shipped. Seems to be the only one built in 1998 in that color, convertible, 5-speed, and taupe cloth interior. Needs some TLC but is insanely fun to drive.

    Nice Firebird!
I briefly jumped into the goatee game in ‘92 during the grunge trend, I was only 19 so it wasn’t overly impressive, probably borderline ridiculous.
My craft beer journey allegedly, may or may not have begun around that time as well.
    Cheers!

Same here. Didn't care for the big three beers aside from Miller Genuine Draft, but friends attending college introduced me to Yuengling and some of the other growing brands, like Sam Adams and Pete's Wicked. What a great time to get into beer.

    I
Oh yeah! Lots of Pete’s Wicked. Though I did drink a fair share of AB products, and a lot of Killians too.

Wow yeah, Killian's Irish Red. Seemed like every bar around Lancaster had that on tap. Probably couldn't stand it now.

Yeah, I tried a pint on a whim a couple of years ago and was rather let down. But back then it was a stepping stone on my way to good beer.
