Eh -- having saved a bottle in past years to compare with the next vintage, I don't think you'd like it. Oxidized, malts turn sweet and earthy -- just not as good a year later.

Glad this thread got started, I'm beginning to be on the lookout for maibocks. Easily my second favorite seasonal.

I'll be curious to see if we get any Ayinger bottles this year. In the past it's been exclusively kegs in Dallas but hopefully that'll change this year.

Locally, I believe Cowtown Brewing in Fort Worth is the only one brewing a maibock this year which is sad but not surprising.

Looks like Ayinger Maibock is available near me -- at $15 a 4-pack. I guess it doesn't sound too bad if you say $3.75 a beer, but I think I'll be saving my cash for some of my locals and HB.

I just returned from about three weeks in Vegas, so haven’t seen what is available, but will shop for singles this week.

I don’t shop Binny’s, so sometimes these beers don’t make it to grocery stores or the independent stores like The Beer Temple or Beer on the Wall.

I unfortunately do not see much if any Lakefront in or near the city, 3 Sheeps has dried up, and CW offerings are hit or miss. Will begin hitting Wisconsin a couple times a year from now on to stock up on quality Wisconsin beer from these three brewers and perhaps NG. Will also check out the Buffalo Grove Woodman’s to see what they carry once I clear some room in my refrigerator.

Also can’t wait for 3 Floyd’s to reopen their brewpub, off true, to enjoy a few drafts before taking home a case or two of fresh beer.

If you're anywhere near Ephrata, Pour Man's cans a doppelbock that's worth trying.

Enjoying a bottle of Ayinger Weizenbock (or Weizen Bock? they have it both as one word and two words on the label)

Found some dusty vintage bock brews down in the cellar - really miss that Anchor one especially!

I'll co-sign on the Anchor bock. I hate that beers like that are no longer available.

If a German brewer made a Heller Doppelbock and sold it as a Heller Doppelbock, why would you "knock your score" for it not tasting like a Dunkler Doppelbock? In that scenario, your expectations are not the fault of the brewer.

I've had a few Heller Doppels over the years and they've always been much bigger and richer than Maibocks or Heller Bocks. Maybe not as toasty and dark bread crust in flavor as a good Dark Doppel, but definitely amped up from a Maibock.

Finally found somewhere with Ayinger Maibock on draft. Just a flat out great beer.

Still waiting to see if we'll get any Ayinger Maibock in bottles. Waiting on a few of my locals to come out with their bocks to. Community Beer co actually makes a decent Bock year round I'll have to post it here next time I get a pack.

I decided to pop up to Bavarian Grill in Plano. I somehow continually forget about this place. Their tap list is expansive and has some of the harder to find beers in our area like this one.

I haven't seen any bottles anywhere down here unfortunately.

Fack!. I seen your other post so we don't usually get it in bottles?

I'd thought craft Cellar would get bottles with their keg but no. Believe Vector Brewing should release a Maibock eventually.

Yep I don't think I've ever seen it get bottle distribution here unfortunately. Usually just a few restaurants/the Craft Beer Cellar in Lakewood get the kegs.

I had a feeling that was the case unfortunately. I'll have to keep that in mind next year.

Please tell us why. Not to put you up against a wall, but German beers are my favorites and I have high expectations. I've enjoyed Maibock at Frühlingsfest in Munich and know what I like.

I respect Ayinger beers, but if I'm dropping close to $20 for a 4-pack, I need to know it's worth it.
