    Hey BA,

My wife and I are planning our spring break trip, and thinking about going to Boise. We have 2 children under 2, who are both well behaved…for their age.

We live close to Utah, and know there is a bunch of goofy laws about anyone under 21 even entering majority of establishments, including breweries.

    so my questions are:
    1) Are breweries kid friendly in Boise? I know some places don’t want kids because of noise and what not, but are there laws against kids in breweries.

    2) What breweries/bars/stores would you recommend in the area?

    3) Other fun things to do in town that aren’t alcohol related to do with our kids? Free and monitory activities are cool, but free or cheap is best.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

1.) I cannot think of any restaurants or breweries that aren't kid friendly. That said, I don't have kids so haven't paid super close attention. Some beer bars might not allow kids, but you should be cool at restaurants with bars and breweries.

2.) Best stores to get stuff to go: Brewers Haven on Vista, Homebrew Stuff on Chinden, The Boise COOP near downtown Boise is a community owned grocery store and has a good to great selection... There is also a COOP location in Meridian.
2.3) Best breweries IMHO (taken from a nerdy/modern perspective): Western Collective is making the best "modern" style IPAs, Stouts and Lagers, Barbarian is doing pretty good sours and IPAs but I personally don't care for them, Mother Earth has a taproom in downtown and is kid friendly and are consistent and pretty good, Payette is kid friendly for sure and have a great outdoor area but their beers are a little ordinary, Boise Brewing might not be kid friendly but has a nice stable of beers, 10 Barrel is owned by AB InBev but makes great beer and has pretty good food.
2.7) Bittercreek & Diablo are 2x restaurants right next to each other downtown and have a really well curated beer list with a "locavore" type approach to their food menu, Taphouse has a good taplist and food is little cheaper than the the above 2x restaurants but isn't quite as good, Bar Gernika has a smaller tap + bottle list and interesting Basque food (Try beef tongue stew on the weekend and the croquettas anytime, you won't regret it).

3.) World Center for Birds of Prey is pretty darn cool for kids but under 2 might not appreciate the big birds quite as much, Zoo Boise is surprisingly awesome, any of the parks along the Boise River can be quite fun (Katherine Albertson, Julia Davis, Ann Morrison, etc).

I will try to add ideas when I think of them. Hope you enjoy.
