    Happy chilly overcast Tuesday BA's

Just back from a jaunt north to have lunch with an old friend, and a Trader Joe's stop - he lives about 1/2 mile away from the closest TJ's to me (about 35 miles away) - easy to drop a C note on stuff I did not know I needed!

In my continuing efforts to deplete my dusty basement beers I'm enjoying this Expedition Stout that was bottled 08/22/14 and drinking fantastic.

No better way to end the work day than with a Hippie Chick. Had about 4 inches of snow that I cleaned off the driveway this morning around 8:30 and it's been snowing all day but melting on contact. No complaints!

Even though it's supposed to snow until 7 pm, I doubt there will be any further accumulation.

Lasting Brass Brewery - Symphony of Destruction - 2019?

I was inspired by another BA to pop a "dusty cellar beer" and make room for more activities.

Maintaining a decent carbonation with big caramel/maple syrup & toffee notes. Sweet>Bitter

Something a little "lighter" after the stout while I practice for this weekend's dart competition.

Hope I can group my darts this tight this weekend.

I got some stuff done in the garage and house…now 79°, feels like 82° with the humidity, and bright sunshine. At least there is a strong breeze. I think I’m done for the day…on the patio now resting and drinking a RecreationAle:

We just had the lawn sprinkler pump fixed today (we’ve been in a drought for the last month) so I’m testing all the zones and soaking the lawn/plants. Next up may be a quick run to the big box store where many good beers go to die…see y’all later!

    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

2017 vintage. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter.

Bistre body, wheat cap. Fine, soapy lacing; faint legs; decent retention.

Roasty, fruity, and faintly floral aroma. Prunes, grapes, sherry, cotton candy. Ester-forward and rich.

Tobacco, port, cocoa, bourbon, mint, orange rind, and earth on the palate. Complex, bittersweet, roast-forward, with a whisper of smoke/wood in the finish. Vaguely nutty. Moderately dry overall. Low hop presence. Recurring vinous note with a hint of oxidation and pu-erh tea.

Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, low tannins, alcohol present but restrained.

An interesting blend, though I suspect I'm enjoying the contribution of some of the base beers more than others. Similar in some ways to Firestone's anniversary ales, though with distinctive Old ale notes as well.
