A hero with a shark tooth around his neck, a Grim Reaper tattoo on his arm, and a rap sheet longer than his mama’s mustache. A hero who’s forgotten more about amateur taxidermy and alligator rasslin' than you’ll ever know. What better way to pay tribute to our beloved Florida Man than with a big ol’ Double India Pale Ale brewed with a nearly-criminal amount of hops and a moderate bitterness that just about matches Florida Man’s general disposition. This hopped-up whopper of a beer is big in character and guaranteed to sear itself into your memory, just like "the world’s worst superhero," Florida Man.

Happy afternoon BA! Late liquid lunch here. This peanut butter milk stout is pretty good, but I'd take their nitro milk stout over this any day of the week... except for this particular Wednesday, I guess. Cheers!

1) Schneider Weisse Tap 6: Mein Aventinus (8.2%): A Weizenbock from Germany with flavors of overripe bananas, bubblegum, bread and yeast.
versus
2) New Glarus Weizen Doppelbock (no listed ABV): A Weizenbock from Wisconsin with flavors of rich banana bread, dark fruit, phenols, and a rich caramel sweetness. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Winner:
1) Schneider Weisse Tap 6: Mein Aventinus: Ayinger has my favorite Weizenbock with its citrus flavors, but this is a darker Weizenbock battle as they both lean heavier and darker. New Glarus makes a really good one here. Dark fruit, phenols, and boozy. Probably creeping toward 9% ABV range, but who knows. A little boozier and not quite on the same level as I remember. Maybe the freshness plays a role. Adventinus is near perfect with lots of overripe bananas and bubblegum flavors. Yeasty and bready. This is a perfect style to drink in the later winter and early spring.

 

I’m taking the bike in for service tomorrow, spring around here is always questionable, sometimes April or May. Either way I’m going to ride the bike hard when the time comes

Having a Second Fiddle after signing off work for the day and editing a song for my daughter.

Working on making some home made chicken soup for dinner from my leftovers yesterday.

I replaced the windshield wipers (front only) on my car today - $75 for two Bosch wipers
They didn't have the rear wiper so I had to order that online another $25

 

Tropicalia while I resume some dinner prepping.

Carnitas is for dinner, that’s going low and slow.

Finished up the habanero pickled red onions, next up a batch of my Tropickles! Just because I have a shit ton of fresh dill. Brined with Tropicalia and some apple cider vinegar, salt, sugar, peppercorns.

 

If things work out we'll be riding by the end of the month. We usually head south and go to spring training in Arizona and bring our mtb bikes.

We took advantage of the great weather and favorable tides today to dig a few quahogs and 3 lonely oysters.

Quite an interesting day, I got there in time to see a guy fall over and his waders fill with water, took a few guys to help him out, he was lucky. I also saw a guy get his catch confiscated because he exceeded his weekly limit and lied to the marine warden to boot. Not cool. Cheers!
