I’m fine with it being a @beergoot secret, to be passed on to a worthy heir. However, methinks Sir Goot is much too humble in his fluffitative carbonatary incrementalis skills, needing to proudly stake his claim as Grand High Head Sculptor. He can make a head rise three inches past the lip, keep its edging, and put a little whoopdy whoo plateau on practically any beer. ANY beer. I haven’t seen anyone come close. He needs a special banner status!

Now, I’m not picking on anyone, but here is a perfect example. You see the difference in those head structures. Same beer. Beergoot clearly wasn’t even trying hard, but he’s an inch past that lip. The fullness. The shape. There is none more qualified for the highest position.

One of my old college roommates was obsessed with it, and we would watch his VHS recordings a lot ha. Which I really enjoyed. We would try to juxtapose that with the real live show of the time, early 2000's, and they never really compared. The exceptions were some of the Weekend Updates, and the political impersonations...which was really well done at the time. Now its all so one sided, not that that is unwarranted in some cases, but its also lazy, Plenty to make fun still, on both sides, and they have been unable to catch that same inspiration (I guess you can call it) again.

Which reminds me..the one thing I remember from those early 2000's SNL skits was the Bush Jr. and Kerry ones, My roommates girlfriend at the time was a costume/makeup artist for the theater program. So, she made us into Bush Jr. and Kerry for Halloween...we were intentionally the SNL version and tried to never brake character. That was pretty fun.

I also always tried to catch the Paul Simon episodes.

Greeting Humpday BAs. Very bummed out, my son is shutting down track after one meet:cold_sweat: Some old injuries have resurfaced and he just doesn't feel like he can get right in time to contribute. Thus ends his dreams of sprinter's glory

4 Hands Single Origin Imp Stout ( Tons of coffee ) with some Jefferson Reserve Bourbon on the side

I thought you will be presenting us a New Zealand beer given the angle you shot it but I was wrong.

I'm excited to try this. I loved their stout that you gave me!

Good evening, all! I guess I'm having breakfast right now. It sure as hell smells like it, anyway: French Toast Bastard. I love it when a brewer delivers on his promises, and Founders always does. This has absolutely huge aromas and flavors of maple syrup-drenched French toast with cinnamon and vanilla, as advertised. Sweetness is surprisingly understated. Lots of alcohol warmth and bourbon barrel, and a maple-y aftertaste that lingers on the palate. I capped off half the bottle, and it's still putting me to sleep. Bonne nuit!

    Revisited March 01st, 2023

Still an inky, opaque color; an initial thick head that eventually fades to a light wisp of khaki colored foam. Nicely balanced aroma; dark, roasted malts; earthy sweetness; dark chocolate. Fantastic flavor compared to last year; balanced, rich and flavorful, sweet yet not cloying; very subdued whiskey presence; a very slight woody phenol taste. Heavy body; smooth and silky on the palate; semi-sweet with a very subtle alcohol warmth.

This is a different beer in many ways from last year. Based solely on my scores, I'd say more balanced, more mature in character. I'm liking this year's version much more.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Original January 18th, 2022 scores and ratings: 4.0 4.5 3.75 3.75 4.0; overall: 4.0; rDev: -5.9%

Tar black, opaque body topped with a thick, spongy, semi-creamy, light khaki colored head; respectable foam rings. Outstanding smell of dried figs and raisins; moderately roasted grain; dark chocolate. Great similarity between the taste and the smell; light milk chocolate flavor with a lightly spicy, moderately boozy set of aspects; bourbon; anise. Heavy body although a bit thin for the style; boozy heat mingling with a moderate residual sugar feel.

The bourbon barrel treatment really makes its presence felt with this beer. I may have to get a second can and let it age a bit, as the boozy qualities tend to overtake the rest of the beer. Still, at 11.5% ABV, some whiskey qualities are to be expected. It would be nice to have some canning data available. Otherwise, not bad for a high-octane stout.

Pouring temperature: 48 °F; canning data: unknown

...in fairness to my friend Hunter, we don't know when he took his picture let alone his pouring technique...myself, most of my pics are somewhat staged...by that, I mean I intend to take my picture very quickly after my pour produces the best head (plus things like the cigar smoke availability, possibly the overall lighting and / or composition...

...that said, the best beer pours and heads do have a certain longevity to them...it's inherent in the beer more so than anybody's pouring technique...sours and chili beers especially come to my mind as beers that generally don't produce fantastic heads, certainly not long lasting ones as a general rule...yet its the exceptions that I remember that I base my visual rating of of such beers and makes me wonder why one brewery's sours or chili beers can produce fantastic heads while other brewery's don't...on the same token, my overall beer ratings are generally based on the beer's taste, mouthfeel, and aroma with the appearance playing a distant fourth as far as 'appeal factor' comes into play...

...so, I'm a bit beer buzzed now and getting into twisting verbiage, but I swear, I'll try to produce some sort of video to demonstrate how I produce my towering, rocky, dense and creamy head beer pictures...
