Friday night generally sees me pop up on this site like an inquisitive meerkat (prairie dog to you Americans), and inquisitive I am again. This meerkat loves his beer (maybe I'm a beerkat?) and what would a Friday night be without digging some liquid gold from my cozy burrow and treating it with the loving, vigilant attention of a meerkat peering warily into the limitless, dangerous sky?

This one is Hazy Ale from Broulee Brewhouse on the New South Wales South Coast. It's adorned with a black cockatoo, which would've sent the meerkat in me scurrying back into its hole, but in the interests of hoppy, hazy goodness, I overcame my jitters and was rewarded with a bitter, zesty, sherbety brew. A very nice start to a very nice weekend!

    Cheers!

Yeet, I like a good beer buzz early in the morning. Did you know? Oh yes you did. Morning drinker here, and sober evening kind of fella.

Looking to be a restful kind of weekend. A friend and almost neighbor asked if I wanted to see him for a pack or two Saturday evening. Why the hell not? I don’t need to drive and will just go back here walking/being limpy. You’re not drunk if you can still walk even if you’re barely standing on your legs. Being drunk in my book means passing out, falling drunk and throwing up half of your liver. Not for me (anymore).

    Chimay!

I hear ya - I'm a day drinker too. If I drink later in the evening I'm up going to the toilet ten times during the night! It's called getting old!

Also, Cocktail? Really? I remember us Aussies being so proud that Byran Brown was in that movie!

    Cheers!

A fine reason to be proud of your nationality and character. I haven’t watched it in several decades, back then I could empty two sixer in the evening and not go to the toilet a single time in the night - that’s to say, I was young and healthy. As my stepgrandad from Serbia says: «Prostata ». :slight_frown:

The sad thing is, right at this very moment, the wife and I are five minutes into watching Cocktail. And it's all YOUR FAULT!!!

And your step-grandfather was a wise, and probably leaky, man!

Having flown across The Pacific into tomorrow I realized two things: Australia IS across the earth, and my relationship with time and space was forever altered. I'll be back after a while and tell you about my only encounter with a Wombat. Later ya'll.....

Good day BAs! Damn, @AzfromOz and @Shanex, yinz are at it awful early, at least here on the EST time zone of Murica. Ah yes, morning drinking when you prefer to sleep (most of) the night through. Careful scheduling for me means up once about the middle of my sleep cycle with the final arising corresponding with morning. Getting ancient does indeed have it's problems.

@AzfromOz, a week from today I'll be landing in Munchen for about 10 days of German beers and I'll be overlapping some of your planned tour - stay tuned (also backchannel).

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Pipeworks makes some damn good beers, despite being too cheap to date their cans. Normally I wouldn't have bought this (undated can, $ 9.50 including tax) but for the magic words: Barrel Aged, Imperial Stout, Coconut. The barrel is weak, but the coconut and (strangely enough) the added vanilla shine through. Rating 4.34, rDev +7.2%.

Maybe I'm just feeling good - had my first confirmed sighting of a groundhog yesterday - or maybe psyched for next week's trip, despite the weather (30F/-1C) locally and in Munchen it's about the same. Prosit!

...sometimes a morning drinker, usually afternoons, not too much of a nightime drinker...I, too, prefer not getting out of bed to piss in the early, early mornimg...

Here's a little Georgia ale I'll sip on for a while. And the tune is a piece of my memory early in my marriage. I was travelling in The Hunter Valley with a second generation Dutchman. We had just left a wine dinner at a fancy golf club and resort way out in the boonies. We were cruising down a gravel road and I say to Kees, "What sort of odd creature might you see out here at night"? "Oh, maybe the occasional Wombat.... whoaa, there's a Wombat"!! I look over at the fence and see a small bear-like creature with rotund features just sort of oggling us. It looked like a living ginger bread cookie. Very cool and strange. I'll never see another I'm certain.

Good Friday morning. As a recently retired individual I’ve learned to enjoy a Friday AM beer most weeks. Today’s is a left over from the holidays. At least it tastes a bit like coffee. Cheers!

Happy Friday BA's! Thanks @AzfromOz for starting today.

Getting up after a few at night just isn't fun. Hangover, if any, would get even worse.

Kicking off with a nice and easy Köstritzer Schwarzbier.

    Prost! :beers:

Good evening, day and morning BAs! I’m a morning/day drinker, and rarely drink beer after dinner (my prostate meds are great, but aren’t that good :sunglasses:)…let’s get started with one of my tried and true breakfast “coffees” - FBS:

Bottled 1/18/23. Poured at 54° straight out of the chiller. Roasty toasty notes of coffee. Delish as always.

I have errands to run later with Mrs. Z and we have more yard work to do today. My Tavour box has been hung up in Ft. Lauderdale the last 2 days, but maybe it will arrive today in time for tomorrow’s monthly bottle share at the pub. Cheers and have a fantastic Friday y’all!

    Happy Friday BA's

Sorry for any Panasonic "front fork controversy" from yesterday's post of the bike I got from Goodwill for $5 - as mentioned - the front fork was bent pretty badly, as was the front rim - which I attempted to straighten....probably why the tire looks so close to the frame, etc - I assume the prior owner "taco'ed" the bike into something pretty solid, to bend the front end that way....

Anyway......on to Friday coffee and honoring my Irish dna as well.....
