For this year so far I'd go with Side Project Fuzzy and OEC Cúvee de Gorgoroth. Honorable mention to Surly Darkness for being much better than I expected for an old school RIS

Enjoy it while it lasts since that beer has been discontinued. Lager For The Lakes (a different beer) is replacing it.

6 months old, and it rated out as a 4 for me, but I could taste it’s greatness. Would love to try it fresh one day. Thanks again, @beergoot ! [IMG]

Source? Not because I'm questioning you but just because I haven't heard about this. This is actually heartbreaking as LOL is probably my favorite beer from Bells. Cheers.

Chicago has always been a strong market for Bell's, but their new distributor isn't promoting it well/much, below New Belgium at this point.

Sheffield's was their top onsite account here, with a huge Oberon Day celebration and a few other Bell's events during the year. Their new distributor has swapped out Bell's handles for New Belgium, with only Two-Hearted bottles remaining. The last Bell's/New Belgium promotion held was a New Belgium Bike raffle in the Fall.

We also lost one of my favorites, Best Brown, last Fall. You should fare better in terms of variety being in Michigan, but I don't expect much in Chicago beyond Official, Two Hearted & Varieties, a rotating seasonal (Oberon, Hopslam, Oktoberfest, Christmas). Perhaps limited Porter or Third Coast.

We used to get just about every canned/bottled release prior to the sale of both the brewery. Even limited releases like the wonderful Walt Whitman Leaves of Grass series. I used to buy several Bell's releases throughout the year, including Lager of the Lakes. They are sadly pretty much dead to me at this point, and slowly becoming dead to our market.

This was bottled in December. Still great. Maybe not quite as bright as it was when fresh.

This was a wow beer for me! As a Nelson-hop fanboi, this is probably the best all-Nelson hopped hazy that I have ever had. Outstanding aromatics, fantastic Nelson-hop expression, and a murky-soft/creamy mouthfeel on the palate (Chef's kiss). I have searched for and have had many all-Nelson IPAs and this tops the list for me! Cheers guys!!! :beers:

Founders Chocolate Cherry KBS BBA Imperial Stout, 11.6% ABV. I really didn't expect to like this, but I do. Best new beer I've had so far this year.

    4.52/5 rDev +8.9%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

I rated this .02 less than my favorite KBS, Mackinac Fudge and .03 ahead of Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa and Espresso. In a side-by-side with Mackinac, this could win. The cherry isn't even slightly medicinal, and the roasted coffee is more present than the cherry.

I was gifted a 4 pack of this beer and it is good.

I don’t see it on their site anymore but from what I’ve heard it pops up now and then. Buy some if you see it.

    Dance Money, Forest and Main

    Enjoy

 Long story! But Cliff Notes version...Came into the craft beer hobby late (as noted by my joined date from 2017)...co-worker introduced me to a Pizza Port Swami IPA...mind was blown. He then got me a Ballast Point Sculpin glass and I had a Sculpin in said glass and I could have sworn it tasted better! LOL!

From there I was on a mission to get a glass/teku from every brewery that I visited and became a collector. That turned into looking into custom/one-of-a-kind glassware that I found on Instagram/Internet.

And, here I am a few years later, running out of room to store said glasses. Ha! Cheers! :beers:
