Cross post with New Beer Sunday #942, this is a local Irish Stout to celebrate the Saint Patrick's Day parade happening two blocks from home at high noon.

Full review here. Bottom line, this is a very good to excellent Extra Stout, much better than the Guinness Foreign Stout that I enjoy. Have a few ounces left and will savor the rest.

    Lakefront 35th Birthday Doppelbock:

Super rich and full of the sort of malt character I have come to expect in a Doppelbock, and after all these years, this bunch really knows their lager game.

Great brewery tour, too. Worth going out of your way for — especially if you’re already in the upper Midwest and a beer lover.

    Cheers!

@ChicagoJ , hmm Hubbard's Cave over Guinness? Interesting and I look forward to my investigation.

For me, also a local stout, Pollyanna Sinister Soul Imperial stout aged in Whiskey Acres Bottled in Bond Bourbon Barrels with toasted coconut and cocoa nibs added.

    G'day all!

I am, again, enjoying this treat from Deschutes, bottled June 11th 2020.
The weather is chilly but near zero wind!(I reckon that I jinxed it)
    Prost!

I scored the Hubbard’s Cave higher, primarily on the in the grounds of the full flavor while still holding a nice roast bitter profile. My review notes for Guinness Foreign Extra Stout indicate the taste profile was muted, though the other aspects I enjoyed via the Hubbard’s Cave version we’re present. I should perform a side by side to confirm.

Loving the interesting beers you’ve reviewed recently by Pollyanna. Nice to know they have a location not too far (Roselle) that I can visit once it’s a little nicer weather wise to venture out there.

    Slainte!

...Mrs. BeerGoot is making a corned beef and cabbage dish...she needed six ounces of beer but said she could use the whole can...I patiently explained she only needed a small amount and that, in order to help her in the kitchen and not ruin the recipe, I had to QC the rest of the beer...:sunglasses:
