Oooohhh, those are fighting words right there. We have some pretty awesome Belgian beer bars out here - The Back Abbey is pretty great. Most of the time they have De Garre on tap, in proper glassware!

Hopleaf sells De Garre bottles TO GO!!

I'm just a Hopleaf fanatic, though; I fully acknowledge there are great Belgian bars across the world & tip my hat to your favorites.

And De Garre is, by far, my favorite Tripel and I'm so grateful it seems to be escaping into the world more & more these days.

I'm 100% with you. I also found some bottles on a recent trip to Texas and was pretty damn excited. By far my favorite Tripel and one of my favorite beers. I just have to figure out how to get back to Brugges to visit the bar! Santé!

De Garre is in the heart!

Need to finally get around to trying a De Ranke, hope it warms up and stops raining at some point to check this out.

Sounds good, I'll send a DM when the Sun returns.

Rain and my aversion to it caused me to bail on my planned Frank & Mary's (Lunch) / Maplewood (Cashmere Pulaski) / Beer Temple Pulaski Day Trifecta.

30 Anniversaire from Unibroue. A Belgian-style stout with maple syrup and natural flavors. 10% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with a wonderful amount of light brown head. Tons of strong lacing. The nose is full of maple, burnt toffee, lavender, coriander, clove, a touch of cinnamon, dark chocolate, dark bread, marzipan, and cherries.

The taste is incredible. Maple, a touch of tobacco, coffee, chocolate, licorice, burnt toffee, bread, coconut, marzipan, dark fruit, and again that nice mix of spices. Wow. Intense and complex.

The mouthfeel is fairly thick and creamy, and the aftertaste is nice slightly bitter roasted malts. Overall, a great beer.

I'm a big fan of quads but don't get them very often. This has been a favorite of mine since I bought a bomber when I first discovered the joys of the craft bomber years ago. This one is four years old and drinking wonderfully.

Let me get this right… You are telling me, I have to buy 200 of these bottles? And how in the world am I going to do a side-by-side with 20 beers? The things we have to do for science. Well if THAT’S what needs to be done.

A stateside brewed Tripel, from First State Brewing in Delaware. Called Tripel Beaming, it's spot on for the style.

My first time drinking this beer - St Feuillien Quadruple, and I am impressed. Nice rich malt flavors. Dark caramel, spiced cookies, some plum. Well balanced, drier finish. Medium bodied, but smooth mouthfeel

A late cross post from NBW. I ran out of time to post it last night. I have been watching this thread for a couple of weeks for “educational purposes” as I don’t have much experience with Belgian styles.

I grabbed this variety pack at a local bottle shop this week. I got the feeling it had been there for a while, they had others and it wasn’t dusty so I’m not sure why I got that impression.

Six new to me beers, some of which I should have tried years ago so I was excited to get it.

First out of the pack is Gulden Draak classic. It was a gusher!
It doesn’t show in the photo but it is a rich, slightly hazy, chestnut brown. So far, I am really enjoying this one. I haven’t finished the review but at this point I am impressed. In a nutshell this has some of the rich flavor and complexity I expect (with limited experience) from a dark Belgian but is surprisingly easy drinking with the 10.5% ABV well disguised.
    Nothing to complain about here.
    Cheers!
