Serious responses only. I'm doing some initial research for a story. I would like to determine whether or not this is interesting enough a lineage to write a piece on it.

    Thank you!

I would quess Budweiser's advertising agency, when there is a lack of quality, you sell quantity.

I read Stroh's in a couple places. But Budweiser would likely be my guess, if I were making a guess and not researching and reporting this.

The first ones I think I remember seeing in the mid-80's, in Upstate NY were either Keystone or Strohs.

Well Kid Rock did have that line "30 pack of Strohs, 30 pack of hoes"....

I would guess that it was one of the "value" brands like Keystone Light, Natural Light, Milwaukee's Best, etc as opposed to the flagship AAL brands.

This seems like a good @jesskidden question with his library of old beer ads and pricing.

Best answer I could find is Stroh's.
Of course this was after the recipe change. Stroh's used to be way better than it is today. I used to drink it often, but won't go near it anymore these days. Way better AAL's for the price. Example, High Life & Coor's Banquet.
I hear talk of a possible demise of the 30 pk due to rising costs, & also read but don't believe that the same beers are cheaper per unit with the 24pk case. I think some follow up research is needed there. That I don't believe that, as most info on the 'net.

Some magnificent bastard in La Crosse, WI is my best guess.

More Special Export than you can shake a stick at, why not?

    Foxhead came so close!

But yeah, while I might not call it an "invention", it was Stroh - though there was that scandal about using nursery school labor to put them together.

Ah, the voice of a generation, Kid Rock. I always confuse that line and if it was, in fact, Kid Rock or Robert Frost.

"Two roads diverge in a yellow wood, and I, I took the one with 30 packs of Stroh's and 30 packs of hoes."

Scanned it ~10 minutes ago (feel it - it's still warm!)

Of course, if you taped 3 of these together - same thing.

I read this, too, but it seems vague and I am highly suspicious of its accuracy.

Well you can tell it was his early work since it only ripped off the riff from Metallica. You saw real growth when he later rhymed "things" with "things" and ripped off both Lynyrd Skynyrd and Warren Zevon in a single song.

That article reads like it was "written" by AI or something. It reads jarringly, and there are some really weird sentences and topic shifts.

The info provided by JK: March 1986 and Stroh's is likely your best source here.

    Cheers!

Not sure I'd trust that anonymous article (doesn't read as if it's written by a human English speaker). This shows a lack of knowledge of the industry:
And this claim is a bit off:

(Not implying Drewrys was the first, only the first ad in my files I thought of.)

But I confess to not knowing this:
