    Good afternoon, advocates. Having a Blind Pig w/ some street tacos as I prepare for another fantasy baseball draft that starts in less than 30 minutes. Watching the end of Bayou Caviar, which is the directorial debut from Cuba Cooding, Jr. Not a great film by any means, but interesting enough. Cheers!!!

    Finishing off the last of a 12er of Old Style Lager that I impulse bought while looking for Saison DuPont the other day.

    Honestly a pleasant surprise for the price point. It is quite corny, but real grain and hops are detectable on the sip. Probably the closest an American macro has gotten to a Czech Pils.[​IMG]

    Bright, orange juice color with some banana yellow; densely opaque; thick, creamy and frothy white head, long lasting. Excellent nose made up of white grapefruit, mandarin orange, and oats. Nice flavors; light tropical fruits with bold hop bitterness. Heavy mouthfeel with a citrus bite; velvety; some boozy warmth oozing through the residual sugars.

    A nice enough hazy double India pale ale, delivering some wonderful eye appeal and mouthfeel. The smell at just under a month old is still fresh citrus. The taste is good yet doesn't live up to the aroma.

    1) The Veil Merciless Merciless (8.0% canned 2/13/23): A DDH NEIPA from Virginia with Citra, Galaxy, Simcoe, and Vic Secret for flavors of ripe orange, creamy pineapple and mango. Creamy oat malt body.
    versus
    2) The Veil Mountain³ (8.0% canned 2/14/23): A TDH NEIPA from Virginia with Citra, Motueka, Idaho 7, and Galaxy for flavors of orange and grapefruit citrus, some vinous grape and floral notes with a mild bitterness. A creamy oat malt body. (mismatched the two blind)

    Winner:
    2) The Veil Mountain³:     Wow I remember trying one from this brewery and wasn't that impressed. Won't make that mistake again. These are top shelf. Merciless has great tangerine, pineapple, and mango flavors. Very ripe. The Mountain gets the win for the intense tipple dry-hopping. This beer is so saturated with hops and oat malts that it's intensely creamy yet has a bitter bite. All I should say is both of these are fresh & wonderful. Distributer problems in my area so sort of surprised I found it this fresh. Not going to pass these up again. I'm on-board with The Veil
