I know this has been brought up before, so o figured some may be interested. Just picked up a 4 pack of Back Cast at Wegmans, and was shocked to see a canned on date of 3/1/23 stamped in n the bottoms of the can. Cheers to New Trail on making this change! Hopefully it’s on all their products going forward.

Yes, let's hope this is a systemic change.

    Cheers!

Drinking a Bonfire purchased last week, and it's not dated. But hope springs eternal. NT makes really good beer. Their refusal to date-stamp has been off-putting.

Yeah, back cast was the first I’ve noticed, and that was released recently. I took a quick peek at Broken Heels and Replenish 4 packs and no date, although I’m sure these were older.

Bonfire was released before Back Cast, so there’s hope.

Yes, they have started dating their products and I noticed it on the stovepipe cans. It's a recent change so if you pick something up without a date you know that it is older.

Do you remember the dates on the stovepipes? Just picked up a couple and there are no date stamps on them. Assuming they are from this year, maybe a month or 2 old, since my local Sheetz goes through them quickly. When they’ve left the box out in the cooler, which is stamped, it’s always been a month to 6 weeks old.

Actually now that you are making me go into my memory banks it may have been a single can with the date and not one of the stovepipes. The next time I am at the stores I will check a few.

Double Replenish was released a week ago and does NOT have canning date.

I checked the stovepipes and none had canning dates. I will check again one day down the road to see if they start dating these too.

I bought a tropical double heels stovepipe last night that had a super small canning date of 3/6/2023 on it.

Pretty ridiculous that they can't be consistent with something like can dating.

And that date is on the bottom of the can?

    Cheers!

How was it and how does it compare to DBH? I have yet to try the tropical version.

I have the same question, as I looked a few over recently and found nada.

I too have been looking and I have yet to see a date on the bottom of a New Trail can.

On a related note I had a 5-10 minute conversation with a New Trail employee at a beer festival in Philly last year. One of the discussion topics was about their lack of dating on the cans. I stated to the guy that I personally refuse to buy their products since they refuse to date their cans. He remarked with something like "well, we do sell a lot of beer to people" to which I replied they would sell their beers to me if they ever decided to date their cans (and I could find them fresh).

I guess that for New Trail the decision as to whether they implement can dating is influenced by: if people are willing to buy our beers why pay the cost to implement can dating? Perhaps they will reach a point where they change their mind if enough consumers decide to do as I do: no date = no purchase?

    Cheers!

It's one of the many reasons why I think beer should have to play by the same rules as other beverages and include Food Labels, dates, etc.

The Backcast cans I saw dated were stamped on the bottom of the can. I meant to check Double Replenish today at the store and forgot. The inconsistency is very strange here. I did go through another case of Crisp lately. Outer carton was dated, nothing on the cans.

Have you seen Crisp in six-packs at any of your local beer retailers?

    Cheers!
