I have two recently consumed that qualify for WOW kind of on different ends of the spectrum.

Schilling Dark Czech Lager Karluv - I've been happily consuming Schilling brews since they showed up in my area recently. Everything has been above average, but this Karluv was a true beautiful beer. In a sense, I knew to expect a very good lager from Schilling - this one was exceptional.

The oddball from the BA Extreme Stout Box did it for me - the Black Daruma from Japas Cervejaria for me was a striking beer and I am not even sure why. I had no idea what to expect - I've not been reading the commentaries on the box contents until I have consumed one and formed my own opinion. The stout was very good and the subtle addition of persimmon created some interesting highlights. It's apparently polarizing based on the range in ratings, but I'd buy this if I could find it. I thought it was a very well made beer that delivered the brewers' intent clearly based on what I've read about the brewery. Best in the box - probably not as I have some heavyweights yet to drink, but an eye-opening, enjoyable brew that made me happy.

A where have you been all my drinking days beer - Sierra Nevada Bigfoot - I bought a bunch of bottles from the dusty closeout shelf and never got around to drinking one until a few weeks ago. Yep - this is a beer worthy of the hype.

While I'm still high on finding 3 Floyds Alpha Klaus in (NYC) market these last 3 years, I'm going to go with FW Wookey Jack at current.

Been a while since a new beer knocked my socks off but holy mole, Nelson & Co. IPA (Nelson and Wai-iti) from Fieldwork brewing was perhaps the finest Nelson forward IPA I have ever had and unquestionably the best one I've had in years.

All the white wine/white grape you could ask for. Just breathtaking

Badger State Brewing, Spirited 9, Belgian Quad w/Raspberries and cocoa. Wow, this was amazing. At 11% there was a kick but really smooth. Heading back to get another tapper.

Maybe it doesn't take much to impress me, but I heartily recommend Yinz Jawn from Lucky Envelope and Triceratops Brewing.

I'm really liking this new IPA. Ok, maybe it's the same old "ale" as before, but it always wows me!

I almost forgot: PtE. Perhaps the perfect beer. I'll reserve the final judgment on that until I've had PtY. When pigs fly.

Palatine Pils by Suarez is my latest wow beer. The feel is exactly what I am looking for in a pilsner. Everything is so well balanced and clean yet sneaky complex. Excited to have my last can on the porch this week with the spring weather
