Has anybody seen Schlitz beer lately? Their beer finder is down and no total wine near me carry them. I’m hoping it hasn’t been discontinued. In the past I found it to be the best cheap beer. I have been spending 100-150 a week on a case of beer for the past year and I really would like to start saving more money so I’ve decided to mix in some cheaper beers. Before anyone recommends hamms I was not too impressed. If I can’t locate Schlitz I think genesee cream ale will be my second choice. I have emailed Schlitz and Pabst but no response so far.

Shows limited quantity at my local Total wine. Came up on Walmart search but the 10 closest ones did not have it in stock. Best of luck.

    LOL!

Does Yuengling distribute Lord Chesterfield down to Maryland?

    Cheers!

Still seeing it here in the Quad Cities area at Hy-Vee stores. 6 packs of 12 oz bottles and 6 packs of 16 oz cans. Plus, a local nano brewery, Radicle Effect, has it on tap all the time.

Schlitz is readily available in Chicagoland. Not sure how far out it goes, but it’s at least here.

My grandfather was born in 1935 and it’s been his favorite beer for forever. No matter how into craft I get there’s nothin better than kicking it back with him (he’s going strong for a dude about to turn 88) and tossing down a Schlitz.

It feels like there is quite a jump from spending $100-$150 a week on a case of beer to wanting to add some Schlitz to the mix to bring costs down. There are LOTS of beer options that exist between $25 four packs and Schlitz/Genesee.

Just for an example, you can get a case of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for $26. To each their own, but one could certainly get their costs way down by considering the merits of such options over the $25 four packs.

I think most total wines carry stroh's, which was my go to cheap beer.

Another option would be to just start liking a flagship from a bigger craft brewer that you can get by the 12 pack and just start mixing in a 4 or 6 pack of something else. Picked up my 12 of Two Hearted and an overpriced 4 pack of local for under 40 earlier today.

Not sure about that but Miller High Life cold and in clear bottles is a damn good sub.

I looked hard at a sixer of Schiltz longnecks on 44th Street in Grand Rapids, MI today. So to answer your question OP. Yes.
I wish Schiltz would offer a 24 pack of cans or even a 12 of cans/bottles and I would pick it up more often than I do. :beers:

My local craft beer store sadly pulled their six pack of Schlitz.

When I look at our TW equivalent Binny’s, I see availability at only several among dozens, perhaps close out stock.

Don’t see it at the few Jewel (Albertsons) online that I checked, but do see at the local Garfield’s (not sure how fresh).

It would be sad to lose both Schlitz and Michelob in the same year. I also like Moosehead, Old Style and Budweiser in terms of beers in that category (affordable, decent AALs / ALs), but Schlitz has been my favorite of the group.

the plan is to buy a 12 pack of Schlitz or whatever decent cheap beer I can find and 3 4 packs of my normal choices which are usually schilling beers or imports.

I think that means it's awesome!

Looks like Pabst - which owns the Schlitz trademark - isn't totally giving up on the brand, recently they got label approvals for Schlitz Bold Lager and Schlitz High Gravity to be brewed at the City breweries in Latrobe and Memphis, using an updated image of the "Bull" from the Schlitz Malt Liquor brand. (Pabst executives now are among the owners of City).

The Pabst Brewing Co. has been relatively unsuccessful trying to duplicate the type of success of the revival of the Pabst Blue Ribbon brand had (which, of course, they had little to do with initially). The Ballantine ales, Primo, Schaefer, Krausened Old Style, Pearl, etc., didn't do much (and I'm sure I missed a few). They they gave up on Olympia and Rainier Ale, and did not renew their license for the Piels brand.

I guess Lone Star is doing OK - reports are it sold better than Yuengling did in Texas, despite all the promotional money Molson Coor and Yuengling put into the brand's intro in the state.

You have enough money to spend $100-$150 per week on beer but also need recommendations on cheap beer. Smells like bullshit.
