I heard from a Bell's rep earlier this month that this release of Black Note would be hitting distro in the Chicago area. Of course he also told me it was being sold in four-packs this time around...

Did anyone else have a similar experience to this:

A friend hooked me up with a 750 growler of BN I shared at a tasting, and alternatively I got to try the bottled version at a tasting on a different date. (At least one other partner was present for both, with the same observation...) The tap version was exponentially better. The bottled version was meh. (Again, to be clear, I didn't taste them on the same date/tasting.)

Is this standard, or possibly bottle variation on the bottled version?

I much preferred the couple of glasses I had at a Bell's takeover a few months ago over the bottle a friend opened at a bottle share a couple months ago. I assumed it might be batch/barrel variation more than specific bottle variation. But yeah, my friend that attended both and I agreed with your observation.

I appreciate your reply. I have been considering attempting to trade one of the BB9K's I was lucky to receive for BN, but don't want to make a mistake.

Keep the BB9K, that is one beer that was actually more than worth the hype, for me at least!

Yeah if you even remotely enjoyed BA 9000 on tap, the bottle is going to straight up melt your face. Fucking amazing beer for sure.

Hmm, I've recently had to get a restraining order against Warren Haynes for that same reason, I should probably get rid off all my BA Batch 9000...No one wants his money maker melted

Keep it to yourself, it's bad enough John posted the god damn phone number on THE INTERNET! I live 500 miles away from Bell's and I don't even want it, I CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Damn it Adam. It seems like by the time us un-employed-sit on BA- types get a thread good and derailed with some good humor in it, you get off work, post that you are amused and the thread is closed immediately after...

Pretty sure the bottle count is in base 6 format. Really only 418 bottles.

I can't hate on Bell's, after all they consistently deliver Black Note kegs to various Chicagoland bars and BA Batch 9000 was fantastic at FOBAB. But I was all set to start paying attention REALLY HARD in pursuit of even one Black Note bottle. Seems the Internet has met its match in the form of the Secret Black Note Society.

As the mayor, I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of this supposed "Secret Black Note Society". It has been brought to my attention, however, that there are those outside of this supposed society who have become very well informed with out the benefit of threads on BA, tweets or facebook posts. We can only speculate that they are receiving information using methods once thought to be extinct. Historically, humans would make connections with other humans resulting in what use to be referred to as friends. Some say these "friends, or informants as we know them today, are freely sharing the information of these reported releases with all interested parties. I would advise you not to make any "friends", they are a threat to the society mankind and could possible render the internet useless.

Screw the secret society, Black Note is available right now at the General Store. So is Eccentric Ale which I've never seen.

    Edit
No sarcasm, it really is available, and really screw employees that will give unclear answers (or flat out lie) when called.

What is this word "friend" of which you speak? It is a concept foreign to me and my people, the Hoarders of the faraway land of Chicago.

I'm willing to accept the reality that I can't have it all, but if there's any way I can make the trip tonight or tomorrow, I'll find it!
