Barrel Aged Fluffaluffagus from White Elm. An imperial marshmallow stout aged in bourbon barrels. Comes in at 13% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with a relatively thin layer of brown head. The nose is pretty amazing. Marshmallow, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and a bit of pie crust.

The taste follows the nose nicely. Sweet toffee, marshmallow, vanilla, milk chocolate, some roasted malts, maple, molasses, and a bit of cinnamon. Bready malts, and a hint of banana.

Mouthfeel is thick and creamy, and the aftertaste is maple sweetness. Overall, a very nice pastry stout.

Yeah man. A strange brew (for its alleged style) but I liked it overall

3f Barbarian haze. I don’t know how it only has an 88 on here. It’s not a hazy juice bomb but it’s a stellar ipa that blends west and east coast styles seamlessly.

    Pühaste - Fruits of Endor

"Imperial Gose" (Fruited Kettle Sour) with raspberry, passion fruit, mango and vanilla, from Estonia (8%).

Pours an opaque, dark orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light doughy malt and strong raspberry and passion fruit notes, as well as just a hint of vanilla.

Taste is a great balance of light doughy malt and strong, tart raspberry and passion fruit notes, as well as some mango and just a hint of sweet vanilla and sea salt coming through as well. Finishes with a medium tartness and some raspberry, passion fruit and sea salt lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

Brewers adding heavy fruit additions to a "Gose" is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, as this is a traditional style. What this is, in my opinion, is not a Gose but a Fruited Kettle Sour. Which is fine and I like it well enough, but it's simply not a Gose, even though the salt does actually come through here a bit heavy-handed while the vanilla stays very much in the background, which I don't personally mind that much. Quite vibrant, intense notes of tropical fruit and red berries, with a good tartness in the finish.

...I have to wonder if their intent was an India pale lager (IPL)...???...and I will say the taste is really improving with some warmth...I still don't get any India pale ale out of it, but it's actually becoming quite good in my eyes...

Big ups to @hopley for this one. Will probably be in my top 10 beers for 2023 I am guessing. Barreled Souls Stay Puft Imp Stout, 15.0% ABV; 4.55 overall

Pours ebony & effervescent with a sliver of caramel colored head. Traces of head retention & lacing

S: Plenty of S'mores, with some barrel, persists throughout the whole bottle

T: Follows he nose, rich chocolate, plenty of barrel, some dark fruits as well along with some woody hops up front. Some marshmallow fights through the Bourbon, as well as plenty of chocolate once this beer is warm. Finishes with warming Bourbon, chocolate & marshmallow

MF: Pretty chewy, low carbonation, pretty warming. Carbonation picks up once warm

If you are going to do this style, Barrel Aged is the only way to go IMHO, everything just tastes more like it should, not forced or artificial. Much to love here

Sierra Nevada Atomic Torpedo - I have had this before but since it's a new formula and has moved from a Double to an Imperial (for whatever that is worth ) it's going to count as a new beer.

It went from 8.2% to 9.2% so this is a "biggun" in a 19.2 oz can and I am drinking it very slowly. I'm not too big [pun intended] on DIPAs er excuse me IIPAs these days but I'm always interested in trying an SN beer and I'm curious to see what the change is like since I did enjoy the old formula.

Canned on 01/24. SN beers hold up well and this has been refrigerated so I'm not too concerned about a little age. Pours a dark orange, slightly hazy, nice head, good carbonation. Smell is malts, a bit of hops and some fruit, and just a hint of the alcohol...a very inviting nose. Taste is hoppy-fruity upfront but then the malts kick in and I am getting just a hint of the alcohol here too, but it's not boozy. Good stuff and not drinking like a 9.2% beer. As it warms it gets even more balanced but not too sweet, ends nicely. This is a winner and I prefer this to the previous iteration which I also enjoyed, but this is a little more well-rounded. Budmo!

I had been looking for this one locally, but it never showed up. Purchased a four pack in Ohio this weekend.

    Fat Head's Hippy Sippy
12oz canned 12/15/22 (3 months ago) poured into a Spiegelau stout glass at fridge temp 9.3% ABV and 50 IBU per can. The beer pours pitch black with no light penetration and light brown head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a web of lacing. The aroma is mild with dark cocoa and earthy hops. The taste is bittersweet roasted malt with additional notes of very light smoke, toasted malt and ashy moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good.

Last new beer for me this weekend. Cheers all!
