Orval Day - Saturday, March 25th!!

I've got a 3 or 4 year old one in my fridge. The first store I looked at had year old bottles and I'm still hoping I can find a fresher version. We'll see

 

I picked some up at the beer and beverage shoppe on Roseville Road recently.

I promise I'll be reasonable this time. Spring is here and it's time to waste money on the car.

I was gonna guess that was the place to shop. I think I can squeeze a trip into my lazy schedule this week.

 

If all else fails I'll keep Wegmans in mind. Haven't been to one in years.

From Oval: The Orval’s brewery produces only one beer to sell, a beer with a high fermentation that continues in the bottle. It is 6.2% ABV. This beer is brewed exclusively from spring water, barley malt, hop cones, candy sugar, and yeast. The aroma and the fine taste are due more to the hop cones and the yeast than to the malt that is used. What’s special about Orval’s beer is that hops are added at two different stages of the production process. First, in the brewing room, a large quantity of very fine hops are added – this produces the famous bitter taste and is the reason why the beer keeps for a longer period of time. Later, in the storage cellars, hops are once again added. This is the so-called British “dry hopping,” which produces the delightful aroma that completely enraptures even the most carefully forewarned taster.

What's the freshest batch anyone is seeing in the states? I've got a late April 22 bottle as the newest option I've seen

 

I've got late March, same year.

 

Mine was bottled 7/7/22. So that's July 7, or, in European dating, July 7.

 

Same as @Spade here in WI. The two I drank were July 7th, 2022.

 

I bagged a 03/22/22 edition Orval for $6.

 

Grabbed one today! Second to last one on the shelf. Probably should have checked the date. Gonna be snowy here tomorrow, plenty of time for drinking!
