Fully adult reasons to move on from the fest that clearly align wit the sentiment of others like @Jplachy, but I think it's a huge jump to go from there to the kind of dip numbers we're talking about.

Burnout is also the sort of thing I heard from many people, including myself, every year prior to 2020 as well, though we always ultimately came back for more (even sometimes having to resort to secondhand tix). I'm still curious to see if we have a lot of first time attendees this year.

Math that relies on assumptions that each group is evenly divided and also has a ceiling. Did they ever divulge in previous years exactly how many tickets were allotted to each group? A quick perusal of your site does not seem to indicate they ever did.

How can you be sure that post-COVID the numbers are the same? Could it be higher? Lower?

You also can’t be sure of who NFL teams are going to draft yet that doesn’t stop thousands of people from speculating on the draft by publishing new mock drafts everyday.

We don’t know the ticket numbers, but much like when you lose your keys, going back to the last known place you had them is the best start. Using the last group numbers is a good starting place whether correct or not.

no, but I think that is a pretty safe assumption having attended several times The whole idea of groups was to split people up and avoid the cluster of a line that used to occur.

I put the ~ symbol in there which gives me leeway lol

I mean, the entire group you're talking to here has been several times. We all are free to make the same assumptions you are, but we aren't. No one at FFF has ever explicitly stated whether group A allows only 2k, being earlier in the day, while B allows 4k, C allows 8k, etc. But we all know some of those middle groups have had longer waits. And sure, we can extrapolate the cause being in part because some of A spills over to B, C and so on. You simply have absolutely no idea how the groups are split up, let alone whether Floyd's put a limit on them each individually, or if they more broadly set an overall limit for all tickets combined outside of A.

Correct, I also don't know if we are all living in the matrix and this is all a simulation. You got me there.

I’ve made a ton of assumptions but the one I think is most accurate is the one that lines up with Kodt. If I’m FFF I’m running it like years past and keeping group sizes roughly the same. Hell, look at bottle counts for a max size. What was the total variant count for 2019? How about for 2022?

Anyone here attend GI Stoutfest last week? I heard it was pretty empty for a fest that used to sell out pretty quick. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t be surprised if DLD is going to be the same way. The question is why aren’t people turning out? Is this a long term issue or will people slowly return?

So Grand High Poobah gets to use the Royal “We?”

Never change and die on that hill of denying historic trends and basic math lol.

    Fixed that for you.

I'll die on the hill of questioning unfounded assumptions all day. The fact that it doesn't even occur to people that there is literally no basis for these assumptions and they feel full on Florida man confident in making blanket statements based on groups not being 100% sold out is just ridiculous.
Point me to where group sizes have ever been divulged. I've already addressed that I can't find anywhere that they ever were, so where are you getting this from?
I'd love to. Are you going to provide those numbers, too?
I went to 2021 FOBAB and it was absolute asses to elbows everywhere, right smack dab in the middle of a pandemic, in a larger venue than in years past. I'm not sure a GI event, most of which have been steadily losing steam since 2015, is any indication of trends, especially in regards to the return of an independent brewery's bottle release metal show bottle share festival. Particularly considering GI is distributing almost all of their BCBS nationwide.

At least the first session of stout fest was the most crowded I’ve seen it in a while. But they sold those tickets first and then opened a second session when those were sold out so I could see the second one being empty.

If it turns out this event is grossly undersold does FFF do the vintage release with 2023 leftover bottles next year or do they just offer the option for extra bottles at the fest this year to clear inventory/generate revenue?

Or perhaps they consider an event in Europe or Asia. They did something like that with WarPigs once, didn't they?
