In Stout of Ourselves from Sierra Nevada's alpha hop society. Thanks to @CarolinaCardinals for this amazing beer!

This is just so incredibly balanced, every element is noticeable including the base narwhal. Nothing seems out of tune or out of place. Chocolatey overall, semi-sweet, with accents of a sweet coffee drink that I never order so I can't name it plus gentle booze. There is even a nice layer of nuttiness here. Perfect harmony in my glass right now, thanks much Tom! SN's barrel game is top notch.

Central Waters BBA Reese and Desist Imperial Stout, 11.3% ABV. Smells much better than it tastes. Certainly not a pastry stout. At least it's better than Dark and Stormy. I rated it 4.04, based mostly on the nose.

Odd coincidence, but I got this beer last night intending to have it tonight. A few hours ago I saw a news story about Reese Witherspoon, with the headline "Reese and Desist".

Dan, the Barrel Team certainly hit a home run with this one, my favorite in the two years i have been in the Alpha Hop Society! So glad i have two remaining after trading three. Sadly, we have not heard a word regarding the 2023 AHS season.

Free Will Brewing - Ralphius Two Year Woodford Reserve. 13.6% abv. Wonderful aroma of molasses, dark chocolate, orange, caramel, black cherry. Similar notes in the taste, great complexity but very smooth. Thick and luscious mouthfeel

Stout time! This is Straight From The Hills from Horus and El Cerrito Liquor. About 250 bottles. An imperial stout aged in a single Blanton's barrel for 25 months! Comes in at 13.9% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with zero head. Super thick! The nose is toffee, chocolate, loads of bourbon, tons of vanilla, dark fruit, and a hint of brown sugar. Slight roasted malts and a bit of marshmallow.

The taste is off the charts. Holy crap. I haven't tasted something this smooth in a long time. Huge chocolate, molasses, toffee, black licorice, birthday cake, vanilla, bourbon, toasted coconut, figs, prunes, and slight maple. Definitely get some roasty notes after a few minutes - light coffee and a bit of charred wood. So intense and nicely integrated. Not too sweet at all. The barrel is perfectly integrated, and the ABV is completely hidden. Incredible.

The mouthfeel is super thick and creamy, and the lack of carbonation intensifies everything in a good way. Overall, a wonderful stout.

Cigar City El Catador Club XV ‘Leto’.

Sweet aromas of chocolate fudge and vanilla.
Taste is dark fruits including cherry and fig from the Cognac barreling, complementing notes from the chili peppers. Layered throughout the brew are flavors of cinnamon and bourbon wood spice.
Leto has a smooth mouthfeel, but as it warms, the 14.2% ABV alcohol arrives on the palate. The chili pepper lingers a little, and there’s a bit much cinnamon. But with a French Toast breakfast? Fuggetaboutit!

Beautiful roasted malt, nice hops presence to balance the beer, great mouthfeel. There is a reason this beer is likely punching its ticket to the Final Four!

Brewers notes : Old Rip Medianoche features some of the most sought-after casks we have ever procured for our barrel program –– Old Rip Van Winkle. After resting our flagship Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, Medianoche, for nearly 18 months in freshly-emptied ORVW 10-year bourbon barrels, the resulting blend expresses notes of honey-soaked pecans, freshly split Madagascar vanilla beans, crème pâtissière, dark chocolate cinnamon butter, with just a hint of dried sweet cherries.

Chilled and poured into a stout glass. Pours like motor oil, molasses. Incredibly Thick, very viscous. It is a black hole, it absorbs light , heavy heavy gravity. Thin brown ring

Aroma is dark fruits, raisins, bourbon barrel, tobacco, whisky, figs, cherry

Taste is dark fruits, bourbon, raisins, figs, molasses, cherry, light cinnamon , black licorice, slight char

    Thick, syrupy, viscous, slight fizziness

    Interesting, flavorful, tactful beer

This is a sipper, a sick, thick beer
