    This beer is OK, but remains my Nemesis (to0 malty / mean).

    Full review in the Cellar Review thread. Bottom line, this beer improved from fresh to a year in, but has remained about the same the past year. I'm glad I tried this, but I wouldn't seek it out again.

    ...back from a morning gym visit to Peterson Space Force Base Fitness Center...I'll start off with a light sipper...:grin::

    look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.75 | overall: 4.25

    Tar black body, opaque; no head at first, then carbonation produced a very wispy brown top with a slightly more substantial ring along the inside of the glass. Dark roasted grains and dark chocolate in the nose; wood; dark pitted fruit esters. Chocolate brownie flavor infused with a sublime bourbon undertone; cinnamon and cherries; chewing tobacco. Heavy, sludgy mouthfeel; chewy; dense residual sugars; subtle boozy warmth emanating from the murky depths.

    WeldWerks did an excellent job with this barrel aged behemoth. The incredible blending of the beer with the Old Rip Van Winkle barrels is simply amazing and one to be experienced if at all possible.

    Out in the SW burbs of Chicago today. Phase Three Lost in the Moment WCIPA (Citra, Mosaic cryo, Amarillo). P3 makes some great west coasts, especially for this area.

    Now over at Soundgrowler and enjoying a pour of their Skaterade Franconian Rotbier. This is basically a red lager. Very solid.

    A little chilly and windy day today. Typical Midwest weather. 50's yesterday, today it's 39°, wind chill feels like 31°, and then mid 60's tomorrow. Enjoying an excellent Pale Ale from Triptych Brewing, Dank Meme. Brewed with oats, wheat, and featuring El Dorado, Azacca, & Citra hops. Outside of the great craft scene of Chicago and its numerous great breweries, Triptych is the best of the rest in Illinois, IMHO. Everything they do is top notch.
