That's funny I got some butter beans soaking for this evening to.

 

Soundgrowler Bending Blades WCDIPA (Citra, El Dorado, Simcoe, Cascade cryo). More like a hazy west coast with an expressive juicy and fruity yeast character, as well as a hazy appearance. But the finish is straight west coast, bringing pine resin, grapefruit pith, and slight earthiness in a dry and fairly bitter finish. Solid stuff.

We had a guy where I worked who took the week off and got so drunk one night he called in sick the next morning, twice, 30 minutes apart.

 

That’s when you know you’ve had a swell time!

Trillium Eliot Tower DIPA (Citra, Strata, Centennial). Been a minute since I’ve had a Trillium IPA. Mango sorbet, cara cara orange, sugar-dusted ruby red grapefruit, ripe pineapple, lychee, earthy pine. This one doesn’t suck.

 

Beer no. 2 - The Veil’s “BrozBroz NightNight” DIPA DDH with Citra:



Orange/Tangerine nose/taste. Juicy but not full nor fluffy. My kind of Hazy Lite. Cheers!

 

It’s only 12:11p here in San Diego. I think my liver will take the rest of the day off.

 

1) Lupulin Dortmunder (5.5%): A European Export from Minnesota with flavors of earthy and grassy Noble hops, strong bready flavors of dough and yeast.
versus
2) Fair State/Schells Union Lager (5.3%): A European Export from Minnesota with flavors of pale malts, grains, faint yeast and flower. Clean

Winner:
1) Lupulin Dortmunder: I was excited to try the new Union Lager. Fair State and Schells usually do some good stuff, but this Union Lager was sort of bland. Drinks more like an American Lager than European Export. On the other hand, Lupulin Dortmunder has grown on me. Wasn't all that impressed initially. It captures some strong bready and yeasty flavors. May be more so than typical for the style, but very enjoyable nonetheless. I think Great Lakes would beat both of these and excited to see that one on the shelf, hopefully coming up soon.
