    May I ask why?

    my wife gets up everyday at 4:30, goes swimming or to CrossFit or both. That so she can be in her HS classroom by 7:05…what gets you up so early? BA posts?

    Combination of preference and habit. Plus, I work a lot with Germany and Belgium, so it ends up being really convenient to have more overlap with them.

    And yes, I have been sent on business trips to Germany...still trying to get them to send me to Belgium!

    I was "sent" to Scotland once to train on some software I was the resident SME on my wife and I *finally* had gotten to go to England and they paid for the train ride from London to Glasgow. I'm rather envious of people that get paid to go to Europe! Ah well, maybe someday.

    I have spent a lot more time in Japan than Europe, and most of my time in Europe has been vacations with my wife on our own dime.

    Can't tell if my target isn't paying attention or what, but here are some more hints that should make my target glaringly obvious:

    Hint #11: My target's state was admitted to the Union after my home state.

    Hint #12: The highest point of elevation in my target's state is higher than the highest point of elevation in my home state.

    Hint #13: The lowest point of elevation in my target's state is lower than the lowest point of elevation in my home state.

    Hint #14: My target's state is named after a powerful ruler.

    Hint #15: at least part of my target's state was once claimed as part of the Russian Empire.

    Hint #16: at least part of my target's state was once claimed as part of the Spanish Empire.

    Hint #6: Much like my target's state, both my home state and my adopted state were also represented in the NCAA basketball tournament this year - men's, women's, or both. All three states (target state, my home state, my adopted state) were represented in the same way - i.e., they were all three represented on the men's side, or on the women's side, or both sides. (That does not mean they have all sent the same number of teams to the tournament, just that if one state was represented on any side (men's or women's), then so were the other two, by one or more teams.)

    Clear as mud, per usual.

    I live near the Spokane river, a tributary of the mighty Columbia and is fed by a nearby large lake in Idaho, Lake Coeur d'Alene. That might qualify.

    Okay, I skipped over the Russian part. I don't think Russia ever had a claim on Washington, although they did make one on another state represented in this BIF, so I think I'm out. "Powerful ruler," though...
