Have enjoyed craft beers for a long time, and often turn to BA for reviews before purchasing something new. A good resource! Moved to Oregon from Texas back in 2000. For quite a while, when back in Texas, was difficult to find craft beers (however, scene there has changed a lot over the years I am sure), so moving to Oregon, where "microbrews" often had there own shelf sections, was great! And growing brew pub scene even better.

I've taken off on pub crawls to Portland, Bend and places in between while in southern Oregon, and I have discovered many great breweries and their beers, so you're beer rich out there. Enjoy your surroundings. P.S. Welcome to the BA membership. I see that you signed up for the Society. Good move!
Thanks for warm welcomes. Favorite brews? Lately I have been leaning toward lagers with a little lower alcohol/calorie content. At 69 years old (as of today) try to watch my weight. Enjoying the dark lagers. In particular, Buoy (Astoria, Ore) has a good Czech-style Pilsner and a good Dunkel Lager....and finding them at the local discount grocer for $8.95 for a 12 ounce six pack! And too many nearby good tap rooms brewing up there own. PapaGoose, I grew up in Saginaw. When perusing the aisle and see an interesting new beer, will often do a quick review of BA to see what others have said about it. Figure a (frequent) user like me should be a paying Society member.
Welcome @RBerk ! I've only had a few different breweries from Oregon, since I was not a craft beer drinker during my prior visits. I've really enjoyed several offerings from Deschutes over the years, and also loved the wild ales de Garde among those I've been able to try. Will keep Buoy on my radar as I too like lower ABV offerings, except during Winter. I love my BA stouts when it's freezing. I take it your Winters are much milder in Oregon. Cheers!
I confess that during our cold, windy, rainy Winters, I too occasionally imbibe the heartier brews. Love the Winter seasonals. When I was working, there was a number of years in a row when I had to attend meetings in Chicago....in December! Now those are Winters...and I downed my share of stouts and porters to keep the ice from forming in my veins. Deschutes Black Butte Porter is actually one of my favorite porters, and has a reasonably low ABV.
Lot of great lager producers in Oregon these days. Keep an eye open for beers from Heater Allen, Chuckanut, Occidental, Wayfinder, Upright, Rosenstadt and pFriem, among others. Welcome to BA!
