    Howdy all!

Currently drinking SNAPPY this sunny yet chilly morning here. Not that unusual to have to defrost the car in early April but here we go.

    Cheers.

    Echigo - Pilsner

Spent the day roaming around Takamatsu on the island of Shikoku. Super warm again. Now in Osaka, drinking a pils from Niigata.

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for starting us off and thanks @The_Kriek_Freak for photos of beer 99% of us will never see. Japan hasn't been on my bucket list and probably never will be due to my seafood allergies. Still, seeing labels in both Japanese and English gives me hope for the beer!

Speaking of beer, today's New Breakfast Beer logs in at 16.8% ABV and sets the stage for a forgettable morning:

Not bad at all - the initial assault on my gastric mucosa has been overcome but I would recommend serving (the brew) at a lower temperature than I (did), say cellar temp. The prevalent flavor is chocolate-covered cherries and the ethanol level can make it a bit harsh at higher temperatures. Rating 4.21, rDev -3.2%.

Haul hint: this'll be coming in a box for BIF #17.

    Baladin - Sud

I never expected to find a Baladin beer in Japan but there were several of them in a liquor store I checked. This is a wheat beer but I admit that it tastes nothing like one. It's more like a hoppy pale ale.

Oh by the way, @Ozzylizard, Japan has plenty of non-seafood culinary offerings. Don't let that stop you. You would be surprised by the vegetarian and red-meat options.

Gulden Draak Quadruple, had to go to a local actual beer store to find it.

Big beer ABV wise, 10,5%. Tasty and the strong alcohol is pretty well hidden, not quite quaffable but still drinks well:

    DHC - Golden Meister

Probably my closer for the night as I'm already beyond my daily quota having drank several highballs earlier on. When in Rome.... This one is a fairly tasty Pils, with a chewy body. One of the better ones I have tasted.

I had no plan to buy any beer today. But this was too tempting.

Damn happy I've had the opportunity to try it. Thank you Maynard!

The beer looks very juice like when poured from the can. Very hazy and murky looking. The head that forms is 3 finger, white, frothy and fluffy looking. The head retention is quite good. There's some decent lacing on the glass.
The aroma is quite juicy as expected. Tons of guava and mango shines through in the aroma. I also get some peach in the aroma.
The flavor really starts off mellow. The hops and juice hits in the middle and linger the rest of the way. The mango and guava start it off and it finishes peach.
The body is so full, soft, and juicy. I can't ask for more in the body. This beer doesn't feel like 9% at all.
This beer is quite a treat. It's also dangerous because it doesn't drink like 9% and goes down way too easy.

Glad to see nobody is chastising the morning crew today, though the day is still young. Classic stout this morning from our finest brewery.

Canned 10/7/20, holding up well refrigerated as always.

If you see me return with a celebratory beer later this evening to pair with Taco Burrito King or Superdawg, you'll know a rare of late bit of good fortune has happened to my lifelong City by the Lake.

A friend recently gifted a couple of the Heineken tall skinny 8.5oz cans to me, so I figured that it was worth a review. It's not bad, but by no means good either. Still better than a green, skunky, green light-struck bottle of Heineken.
