Favorite local bar has Firestone Walker Sucaba '14 on tap. Yesterday, I had a pour of it, and sat out on the patio on a blustery, but sunny, and warm day. Still drinking really fantastic.

I'll have to go back for more this weekend.

Never really been a fan. Every few years it gets another shot. The bitterness is far to aggressive for my tastes. Warmth helps.

This would be world class if it had more carb!!!!

It’s definitely personal taste. I love beers with zero carb!

Nice. Is that a fresh batch or was it "shelf aged"?

This is the first I had heard about that series of beers. I had searched for some info about it, and came across this pretty good 25 minute video of the collaborators (Goose Island, Ron Pattinson, Derek Prentice) discussing the Black Eagle beer.

I agree, for barleywines especially. I've got something flat to send your way soon.

No way to know unfortunately, no dates on Weyerbacher bottles anymore. Another place I frequent did restock it a month or so ago after not having it for a long time.

Was definitely one of the better ones I've had recently:

Mechaphant from Old Irving, a generous extra in a recent trade.

Lots of fruit here, all drizzled in toffee. I get dates, golden raisins, cooked apples, and maybe a little candied orange. The finish adds a little cocoa powder and a hint of leafy bitterness. This is tasty and stands out as unique. And is there maybe a little nougat in there?

Bury it in your yard for 3-5 years. Aggressiveness will mellow a bunch.

Don (batch 2) from Hair of the Dog. 17.8% ABV, and opened 4 months ago. Had it in the fridge capped since. Still fantastic.

Any drop off at all? Did you save any for later? Good to know they have that kind of staying power. Looking forward to the next batch!

I think it changed very little, to the point where it was not noticeable. I think this is very similar to something like Utopias. I didn't save any, but I have another unopened bottle that I will experiment with after it's opened. I also can't wait for the next batch. Cheers!

I'll be hitting 1600 reviews this weekend and was planning to have this, but this thing seems so bulletproof I may end up saving it for review 2000
