Anchorage ADWTD Double Oak-Aged! Got this and the Triple Oak-Aged together, and with review #1600 being the next one for me, I know exactly what to have after this

An awesome beer, though not particularly worth the price tag. Surprisingly a perfect mouthfeel for a boozy beer. I can't wait to try the Triple!

Dark, a mead-inspired barleywine made with buckwheat blossom & avocado blossom honey aged in madeira barrels. From Alesmith. Comes in at 11.7% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a murky dark brown with a slight layer of head. The nose is fantastic. It's bursting with toffee, honey, red wine, and lots of dark fruit. Definitely draws me in and makes me want to taste it!

The taste is amazing. Definitely getting the mead and madeira barrels. Port, sticky toffee, plums, figs, honey, brown sugar, oranges, and a slight earthy note on the back end. Maybe a hint of bitter oak.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a wonderful sweet aftertaste. It's funny, this is quite sweet, but not even close to the way some beers are too sweet. It's a real sweetness, one that comes from high-quality honey.

Enjoying the 2021 edition of Bottle Logic's Arcane Rituals. Man, this is really a great beer. I love how the barrels blend so well together!

Nose is very nice, notes of dark fruit are front and center, a touch of vanilla and bourbon are also present.

Taste is awesome! The three different barrel types is a large malt base which give notes of raisin, figs, and brown sugar. Barrels give a dark fruit dominate theme and marry up with the bourbon expertly. Finishes with a touch of sweetness appropriate for the style.

Mouthfeel is large bodied and very smooth, making each sip a pleasant experience.

Overall a fantastic beer! Thank you, Tim @Beersnake1, for giving me the opportunity to try! Rated 4.65

Mighty from Tree House, finally a hoppy barleywine from these fine folks.

This has a big, aggressive caramel backbone that asserts itself immediately. The hops are abundantly fruity, but not in a fresh, vibrant way. They comes across as berries and citrus soaking in tart cherry juice with fresh basil and mint added. I bought some with aging in mind but I really like what this is now, a wonderful spring time barleywine. These won't be around long.

Good idea! Spending a nice weekend in Mass with my sister and her family, currently watching the cousins pillage the yard.

Review #1600 for me, and I busted out the legendary A Deal With The Devil Triple Oak-Aged!

The Double was awesome, but this beats it out. So much boozy complexity, it's just loaded with dark fruit, barrel, and sweet malt. A great beer to celebrate the milestone

Onto round 2 and going with a "sessionable" ABW as so eloquently coined by our esteemed thread leader LOL! Last one from the 2022 purchase.
    Cheers!

To The Point from Varietal. This is a special batch of Willet bourbon barrel-aged barleywine that was blended for Brouwers Cafe for their 21st Hard Liver barleywine festival. Comes in at 12.4% ABV.

Excited to try this one! Poured at fridge temp. Pours dark brown with zero head. Murky. The nose is insane. Big toffee and bourbon. A hint of grapefruit, along with notes of plums, raisins, peaches, vanilla, and oak. Just lovely.

The taste is fantastic. Werther's caramel meets bourbon! Those are definitely the dominant flavors. Secondary flavors include plums, leather, slight citrus peel, and oak. Warming and dry. The barrel definitely gives this a strong boozy presence, but it works great with the base barleywine.

    Overall, a fantastic barleywine!

Burn All The Witches from Little Cottage Brewing out of Avondale Estates, Georgia.

English style Barleywine aged in a EH Taylor single barrel for 12 months.

Big caramel, tobacco and toffee balanced out by some oak and raisin. Very nice barrel presence throughout. This was a real treat!

    Cheers everyone!

Picked up this bottle at Olde Salem Brewing's taproom in Roanoke, VA a couple weeks ago. Coal Tattoo - Honey Bourbon version (they also have a Cherry Brandy version, still have that bottle to drink).
10.3% abv, 500 ml bottle. Nice vanilla and oak bourbon in the aroma, on top of toffee and rich caramel. I do get some dark honey as well. Taste is similar but actually not really sweet at all - very well balanced, some earthy hops. Sticky mouthfeel.

I have not seen this one locally, ever, so I grabbed up a four pack when I spotted it.

It's nice, but not earth shattering. Mellow malt, minimal hops or bitterness and not a ton of body. 10.9% is pretty well hidden. Cheers all!

Described as a strong ale, not a barleywine, but I'm really enjoying this year+ bottle of Lagunitas Unrefined Shagga.

A bottle of "shelf aged" 2021 Founders Nemesis black barleywine. One of my local beer stores still had some 4 packs of this beer so I picked one up recently considering how much I enjoyed both the original 2010 batch and this 2021 re-release. Obviously not as hoppy as fresh, but still pretty tasty.
