Ian taps a Mild, for March, which incentivized the trek to see how he approached the style/strength per ‘X’ interpreted, and to finally analyze the approach taken on ‘real ale’

...third pint was intended to recapitulate/solidify the initial impressions on the mild over three days; however, he was not pleased with the decision made (to unfasten) the sparkler, so was coerced into another round of Weavers via sparkler

Sidenote(s) - Abbreviated transcript per the discussion with Ian over a few pints -
    • Looks after both engines at Dogwood: the ESB will always be on, while the other pump alternates (every two weeks)
    • Ambivalence to distribution/trusting others via handling
    • Nonetheless, JWF is a possibility, and is apparently closer to him
    • Moreover, just a solid discussion in tackling cask curriculums
      • Pale Milds
      • Fake Casks + Cold Casks Stateside (e.g. NY, WA)
      • Gravity Dispense
      • Polypins & Caskerators
      • Glassware
      • Improvements within the CaskWidge setup/upright dispense
      • US Cask Marque accreditation picking up post/diluted COVID

Good to see this kicked in a couple hours. Had the cask then returned later to have it via regular draft.

The cask pour was more complex, but had a weaker body. The draft pour was the opposite.

Really nice to be able to have a couple proper (UK pint) pints and not leave loose-legged. 3.7%, true session ale.

    • The Dandelion and The Standard Tap were the original/only Cask Marque locations situated in Philly (pre-Covid). Currently, they are pending a Steve Hamburg/recertification(s)
      • Bulls Head & True Respite are the only active locations in the Mid-Atlantic…Northeast
    • The Seed has a cask program with the Cricket Club in South Jersey; unsure of the setup or handling, which should be resolved soon/at some point

    Good morning,
Saturday and Sunday I attended one of the beer events that for me are unmissable and that I also think many visitors to this thread would have appreciated.
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/italia-franken-bier-fest-2023-seventh-edition.672315/
Every year (this was the seventh edition) there is the opportunity to drink beers of a very limited production of small inns of the Franconia region (kegs and casks).
Of course, I made my own list of beers that were on offer and I tried to taste those from breweries/brauhaus that I didn't know and that are very difficult to find, unless you go to their area.
Great quality again this year, within the setting of Villa Torlonia, which is also a site of historical interest.
I couldn't find all the references attached that I marked down, but I drank most of them and replaced some of my choices with others that they recommended to me on the spot: Saturday it was raining and there was an enjoyable atmosphere which also allowed for a dialogue, on the other hand Sunday was very full of people and it was more stressful queuing at the stands.
Always very high quality, rustic flavors but also delicate and delicious... truly characteristic.

Among those I have had the opportunity to drink, the Franconian beers that have fascinated and impressed me are:

    1) Brauerei Spezial - UNGESPUNDET (perhaps the one I liked the most: a delicate smokiness, notes that lead to sweet/toasted... a delight. Much less smoky than the Brauerei Lippert Rauchbier, but with a delicacy and a ' decidedly admirable elegance).
    2) Brauerei Reblitz - DUNKLES
    3) Brauerei Heckel - VOLLBIER
    4) Brauerei Hetzel - SCHWARZER ADLER
    5) Brauerei Will - SCHEDENSDORFER LANDBIER

    Prost !
    Sláinte !
    Cheers !
