In between drizzles I walked an hour or so about the southern tip of Pensacola’s peninsula - cool, breezy and great walking weather.

Lunch beer - Equilibrium’s “Straight Outta The Laboratory” TIPA:



Huge fluffy, creamy, rocky, mixed bag white foam atop an orangey deep gold opaque body with some clarity under excellent cap retention; heavy ring and heavy very sticky lacing. Lemon peel nose. Taste is light bitter lemon peel; firm malt base; tangerine, lemon/lime middle; some tropical fruits on finish - guava and lychee. Smooth yet not full nor fluffy feel; moderate minus carbonation; no warmth from 10.2% abv; no astringency. Overall, another banger from EQ!, a “Hazy Lite” and soooo drinkable; if ever a TIPA was poundable, this is the beer!

Back at it ba. Take me to your Leader, nes ipa, greenpoint brewing. Another single can purchase tg. A touch of oxidation on the pour. Flavors are pretty blah at best. No real snap or punch. Subtle fruit tones of nectarine and melon. Just a muted hop mess,

 

Big Ugly Mercy Killer... Heaven Hill barrel aged (Russian?) impy stout

1) Une Anne Pils (4.8%): A German-style pilsner from the Chicago burbs with flavors of crisp lemon citrus and a clean pale malt finish.
versus
2) Fair State Pilsner (5.1%): A German-style pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of lemongrass, yeast, and dry flower. Moderately bitter and clean. (Mismatched the two blind)

Winner:
1) Une Anne Pils: A battle of top-notch German Pilsners. Fair State has been my all-time favorite and is a Goliath among American-made German Pilsners. Grassy, floral, and bitter. I remember trying this Une Anne one last year and was very impressed. Sure enough, it's so good that I couldn't get them right when blinded. Is it better than Fair State? Maybe a stretch, but it is great and deserves the win today.

 

Beautiful day, sunny and high 70s. Enjoyable round of golf, followed by La Cumbre Elevated IPA.
