My target resides in an area where my great-great-many greats-ago-great grandfather Valentine settled, and founded, in pre-Revolutionary War era, after leaving what is now considered Northern Ireland.

 

No worries. My fridge was like a storage facility for Tree House over the last couple editions of this BIF. Variety is the spice of life.

 

Not bad, it was a great clue that tripped me up. You stated an ambiguous fact that I read differently - Good clues! The luge track in Muskegon in natural ice and was closed for some years so I didn't think about it - and we had no people in the Lake Placid area so that was head scratcher too. Good clues; you did fine in your initial round; far better than I did.
