Have you had Sleeping Chamber from Wondrous? As close to the OG Alpine Nelson as I’ve ever had. Nelson, Baby! from Alvarado has also wowed me.

I haven't tried those. I'm really looking forward to trying more stuff from Wondrous. I've heard a lot of praise for their use of Nelson actually.

While drinking a wonderful Side Project Saison Fermier Batch 4 I thought I had diabetes so in panic drank my own urine to see if it tasted sweet. I go in the bathroom and thank god I was hydrated with my half full dixie cup. My friend was watching this scenario playout trying to call a doctor/friend for advice. I couldn't wait so I take a tiny sip and realize it's not enough to tell so i gotta kinda swig it. The saison du fermier pretty much overwhelmed my pallet and I realized I don't even know what urine really taste like anyway. Turns out no diabetes. Beer 4.6 just hasn't helped up perfect.

Schwarz by von Trapp, one of the smoothest and well balanced beers I can think of. Prost.

Short Throw Controversy Sells Imperial Pastry Stout, 12.2% ABV. Pours oil-thick and black, with a half-finger medium-brown head that left some lacing. Aroma is strong marshmallow/vanilla, chocolate malt, then cinnamon. Taste follows plus coffee, coffee hits early, then marshmallow/vanilla and cinnamon, moderately sweet, equally bitter. Excellent mouthfeel, sticky lips, overall world-class. No shortage of add-junks here. I love BBA/RBA beers, but that would have detracted here.

I'd have to go with an earlier post, where it's mentioned that a local bar has great beer at great prices. Makes for a great wow experience. On Tuesdays, I can get the likes of Toppling Goliath Pseudosue (pictured), Three Floyds Gumballhead, Columbus Brewing Bodhi Imperial IPA, and others, for $2 a pint draft, that just wows me! A friend and I make it a point to go for a walk and then treat ourselves to some $2 pints every Tuesday.

I really prefer it from the can. I like Focal Banger in a small glass

Word. I see vaguely a difference from can or glass. I mean every beer I analyze the first thing I do after opening is stick my nose by the top. The aroma is concentrated a bit at that point but touching air at a point in a glass releases a good bit of aroma- just like wine. And don't forget "Heady" is drinking out of a glass on the can label....

I had it horizontal in my fridge on top of lambic and I must have pushed something into the stack of bottles and when my gf opened the fridge, the bottle fell out and hit the floor. The damage was a very shaken up beer and had to pour 6oz of foam but was salvageable
Had to drink at 10am but it didn’t take away of how finesse and fine that liquid was.

Back 10-12 years ago, I would get 'WOW'd by certain beers more often than these days. I think the last real 'WOW' I had was Deschutes Hop In The Dark CDA in 2010. Through the years, some beers I thought I would be wow'd by going in after reading the hype turned out to be more 'hmm...' 'yeahhh' and 'meh'.

This year, another beer came along and totally 'WOW'd me...
    Hawkers St Hildegard Cold IPA

Some serious hoppyness going here. Reminded me of the good old days of danky bitter IPAs! Would love to find some more of these babies.
