I don't drain pour all that often, but it tends to be hazy IPAs more than anything. There are so many bad ones out there. The main issue for me is always hop burn or some kind of astringent flavor. I can usually get about halfway through before dumping. And these beers are expensive!

For this weekend I picked up a 6er of Torpedo (fresh if you can believe it) and a stovepipe of Lagunitas Maximus - $13 total. I guarantee no drain pours!

Or the last 1/4 or so of a beer I fail to finish while watching TV before bed that has warmed up too much…

Haha yeah - but even then, it depends! If I can save a stout or barleywine that I just couldn't finish, I'll put something over the top, and usually toss it in the fridge. They aren't always drinkable the next day, but usually they're palatable enough, and I don't feel so wasteful.

Has anyone ever had this? This is the only beer I can recall that I poured down the sink. It tasted like soap to me lol… nasty. And I love Southern Tier beer. They really missed it with this one though.

I drain poured Chipotle Ale from Rogue, Yeungling Golden Pilsner, and Red Tide from Left Coast.

I think I've tried Rogue Chipotle. It had a gritty feel and was essentially rather crude tasting. I always associate poblano peppers with chipotle, which are quite earthy.

Nothing like when you fall asleep on the couch with a bit of beer left. For better or worse I'll power through the last few sips lol

I always piss'n moan about adjunct laden beer but to me, this was the worst one I've had. If I see a single Imperial Stout in a bottle shop I tend to buy it without looking at much more than the brewery. My Bad!

Beautiful. Black, big brown head from an aggressive pour but was gone in a flash. Snot factory says chocolate and nuts, nougat, taste buds agree. This is way too sweet. Thick'n chewy for sure, zilch carbonation after the pour. Too me, this was undrinkable and 8 of the 12oz went right down the drain. Just awful.

Just cleaned out my beer fridge this weekend drain pouring 3 different brands of hoppy beers that I accidentally purchased old. Dates spanned from March '23 way back to October '22.
Drain poured the first opened of all of them after tasting over the past 2-months. Not sure why I let the occupy precious mini-fridge space for so long.

While making a stop recently I asked the beertender about one of the pours on their sampler set that just didn’t do it for me. It wasn’t “off,” I just didn’t think it clicked, and I was curious about the hop profile. Well, halfway into his explanation he removed my glass, with 2/3rds of the beer remaining, and said “that’s been a drain pour for me. Let me get you something I know you’ll like.”

Technically not a personal drainpour, but I appreciate the honesty! And if he didn’t make a joke about not letting his bosses know he said that I would gladly share where, as their customer service was amazing.

this happens to me a lot with lagers and all that. Nothing worse than a warm light beer.

    Just hold ya breath

A flat warm stout or pale ale should go down pretty well (at least it works for me). You possibly need to stop drinking pale reduced-calorie beers, or get a beer koozie. Or just drink faster.

Agreed. The was a batch of Mortalis BA Bacchus BW aged on 4 Roses that ended up infected around the same time. I definitely think the 4R had a problem undetected in that Black Ops.

Using processed food or artificial sweeteners is usually never a good decision, especially considering the price points of craft beers. I’ll pay a premium for a flavor profile that sounds good, but at least use real ingredients.

Recent Transient Bubba blend #1 barleywine from Tavour saw five go down the drain, infected. I had one that was a gusher, which was actually pretty decent, though it was probably hours away from being the red wine vinegar the others became.

You can't give something a 2.25 for taste if it's undrinkable. Just my not-humble opinion
