Another update from the organizers says that, partially due to the date change, the volunteer response is "unprecedentedly low". I don't want to speak on their behalf but the tone of the email sounded almost as if they were afraid they weren't going to have enough help to realistically run the festival properly.

If you like cask beer and have a few hours to spare this would seem to be the year to take a flyer on volunteering. Spread the word.

Bought tix for Thursday night. Sox game first, quick dinner, then Nerax. Should be a great day. Anyone going? I should be easy to spot. I'll be the guy with the beard drinking beer.

Anyone have an extra ticket for Saturday 12-4? I have a buddy looking to go and figured I'd ask around to see if anyone had a spare. I'm flexible on payment method!

No food this year. That's ok, I don't go to NERAX for the food.

    Damn! Jealous.

This is totally the type of thing that if I had it in our apartment my girlfriend would be like, "Dork".

You ever been to a Harpoon fest or Cisco Beer Garden in Seaport? The exact opposite of that.

Older dudes and diehard beer geeks.

Looking back at my old NERAX programs, it's a fun trip down nostalgia lane to see the local breweries represented back in the early 2000s. Many are gone but many are still going strong.

Here's who I see for 2001-2003: Amherst, Boston Beer, Boston Beer Works, Commonwealth, Quincy Ships, People's Pint, Mass Bay, CBC, John Harvard, Mc Neill's, Magic Hat, Vermont Pub and Brewery, 7 Barrel Brewpub (Lebanon, NH), Red Hook, Allagash, Gritty McDuffs, Geary's, Shipyard, Kennebec Valley, Concord Junction, Paper City, Watch City, Salem Beer Works, Portsmouth Brewery, Harpoon, Martha's Exchange, Rock Bottom (Braintree), Smuttynose, Franconia Notch. Brooklyn Brewery was a regular back then too.

Back then NERAX was in the old Dilboy VFW in Davis Square and had live music too!

And they had some "awesome" bathrooms too.

The other 12 steps to sobriety to get to them.
Did that stall by the window EVER work?
The biggest plus to the Dilboy was a stroll down to Anna's for a big-ass burrito afterwards, possibly with a stop at Downtown spirits too.

The bathrooms at the Lithuanian Club can compete with the Dilboy bathrooms when it comes to head retention in urinals, overall aesthetics, and aromatic appeal.

Just back from the First Night. Fantastic fest as always. I don't have a plan of attack for brews I wanna try, so it's kinda hit and miss. Harviestown and Backbeat won the day.

    Your pic didn't come through!

My plan of attack is always whatever is from the UK in classic cask styles: mild, bitter, blonde, porter...etc.

I'll probably have some Backbeat casks, but they won't be my go-to. I can get those anytime at the tap room. Imports are always my priority, it's so rare you get a good UK cask over here, never mind in good condition.
