What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3832

Happy Tuesday BA's! Seven hour day complete then vaca day tomorrow or I lose 10 hours, not happening. My pre-pull the starter from the Durango beer is a Wicked Weed Perni-Haze and it's great! 75 and sunny....great!

 

I am a few sips in and it's living up to my expectations.

See people rave about this all the time. Never got it again after the first time didn’t wow me. Decided to grab a 4 pack today because i saw it fresh at the grocery store. I don’t get it still! Pretty average IPA imo. Second Fiddle is so much better

Back as promised with my house beer if I lived in California. Their downtown Long Beach location is the only one I've been to, but if you want to visit three great breweries within 2 1/2 miles of each other, go to Huntington Beach (Beachwood, RIIP and Green Cheek) and you will have covered three of my favorites from LA/OC counties.

I had purchased some NA beer back in January. Most are still left. Anyway, I thought I would have one with lunch. No comment.

Take the sweet down 1/2 notch and this could be Leviathan IIIPA.

1) Summit Twin Pils (5.1% one year old): A Zwickel from Minnesota that has flavors of pale malts, grains, strong yeast and a light floral component. Dry, carbonated, grainy, and yeasty.
versus
2) BlackStack We’re Not Waiting (5.2% canned 3/1/23): A Zwickel from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, pale bread malt, pale and earthy malts. Mildly sweet. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Summit Twin Pils: A Minneosta battle for the best Zwickel. First try at this BlackStack Kellerbier. It drinks okay despite my high hopes. Lemon citrus, pale bread malts. Sort of indistinguishable from a Czech or German pilsner. This Summit beer is an absolute killer of a beer though. One year out and still,the flavors are complex, light, and yeasty. A perfect beer all-around and may be becoming my favorite Summer lager. Probably the best reason to go to a Twins game this year.
An aside, but after all the whining I do about BlackStack not dating their cans, this one finally comes with a date! ...yet still manage to omit them on their NEIPAs. Go figure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

The local mom'n pop grocery store is going to be shutting down after 50 years, their prices have always been higher but they're close so I go there when I need a few items. In the 16 years I've lived here I dont think I've ever bought a beer there until yesterday because of the prices. I noticed that they've lowered prices on big ticket beer'n booze. This was good enough to go back and buy another 1 or 2.

I was digging around in the bottom of my beer fridge and found this bottle, which I had totally forgotten I had—it’s pretty good! Also found one bottle each of KBS Espresso and KBS Hazelnut, which I’ll be enjoying over the next few days. Happy Tuesday! Cheers!
