Barleywine/Stout BIF interest thread

I have been thinking about this for a while, but figured it's time for some feedback. What do you think about a BIF specifically focused on barleywines and stouts? Like other BIFs, you would be expected to send a minimum amount of beer, along with at least one mystery beer. Swag (glassware, shirt, or something else) could also be a requirement. We would start a thread for hints and distractions, with senders leading their targets in the correct/incorrect direction. I am thinking about starting this up in the fall of this year. I would love to have at least 12 participants to run it. Suggestions welcome!

Also, I should note that, if this happens, we would make sure it doesn't conflict with BIF #18 (in which I will participate). So, maybe a different time of year would be good.

It's just an idea so feedback is definitely welcome. As with other BIFs, I think we would probably do a minimum amount (volume), which can be reached with more small bottles or fewer large bottles. There would never be a min or max $$. I also do not think there would be any origin requirement. However, you would probably want to avoid sending beers that are from the location of your target. For example, if you are in California and your target is in Florida, I would avoid sending beers from Florida or nearby states.

Some thoughts: If I were to run the BIF, everyone would send me their shipping info and swag preference. I would then set up the sender and target pairs. You would be notified who your target is, but not your sender. We could then have a period of hints (like the main BA BIF) in order to try and guess your sender! Boxes would start arriving after that and we would have a thread for sharing your beers and your thoughts about the beers. We might have an official share date so that we can all get together and open some new bottles on BA.

Let's keep thinking about this and spread the word to anyone who might be interested. I'll keep a list of possible participants so that everyone can be notified when things become more official!

Thanks for expressing interest! Looks like we have around 13 that are interested. As this gets a bit closer, I will reach out to some other folks that are likely to be interested. Sounds like this will work. Just need to iron out some details and determine the best date to avoid conflicts with other BIFs. Cheers and stay tuned!
