Onto round two and enjoying "Big Yeti" which is Great Divide's remake of their 25th Anniversary beer which i paid $11.99 for a stovepipe can back in 2019. Enjoying this for essentially $2.00 a can as part of the mixed twelve-pack bought back in the fall. Still tasting great, definitely a more roastier malt and much more hops to balance the huge malt base when compared to the base Yeti. Still maintain the 4.32 rating i gave it in 2019.
    Cheers!

Untitled Art Chocolate Cinnamon Churro Pastry Stout (Imperial Stout), 8% ABV. Aroma is as advertised, strong chocolate and cinnamon, plus peppers, chocolate, and batter. Taste follows. A true pastry stout. I rated it 4.46.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout

Lots of roasted malt , mild chocolate, cola and a nice subtle heat from the alcohol/barrel on the finish.
These guys are one of my favorite breweries in California . Gonna go buy Rum,Scotch and Brandy versions of this when i get the chance.

    Military meaning:
"A barrel shroud is an external covering that envelops (either partially or full-length) the barrel of a firearm, to prevent unwanted direct contact with the barrel (e.g. accidental collision with surrounding objects, or the user accidentally touching a hot barrel, which can lead to burns)."

Neckbeard Nectar from Transient and the Beer Cellar. An imperial stout aged in Elijah Craig 11 year bourbon barrels for 24 months and Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels for 12 months. Nothing added. Comes in at 14% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a thick and black as midnight. Looks thick. An inch of brown head sticks around for a minute or two. The nose is insane. Maple, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon raisin toast, rich toffee, brown sugar, and prunes. It blows my mind that this doesn't have anything added to it. Just straight up barrel influence.

The taste is really nice. Chocolate, fudge, burnt toffee, big roasted malts (especially on the back end), maple, vanilla, raisins, dates, bitter oak, and huge notes of bourbon. I feel like I can pick out the Buffalo Trace, but not as much the Elijah Craig barrels. This is definitely not sweet on the taste. Very much bourbon and roasted malts, mixed with some dark chocolate and toffee.

There is definitely a slight burn on the way down. This is no slouch. The ABV is detectable for sure, but it's never quite solvent like. It's definitely thick and creamy on the mouthfeel. The aftertaste is a mix of burnt toffee and roasted malts. Lovely.

Pizza Boy Brewing (Enola, PA) - Sunny Side Up (Double Chocolate version). Big dark chocolate, just a touch of bourbon. Taste is also dominated by dark cocoa, but it's not sweet its got that nice earthy and slightly roasty flavor.

A new beer from a new brewery for me, Public Crafts Blackboard. Thick dark pour, small khaki head, bid roast aroma aroma and flavor but I didn't think the was balanced. Nonetheless, it was a pretty solid offering.

Cigar City El Catador Club XV ‘Hecate’ - a BBA Imperial Stout with vanilla and maple syrup.
    15.5% ABV.
Hecate brings aromas of figgy sweetness and tastes of a decadent maple fudge brownie. These flavors are layered with notes of wood spice and rounded vanilla sweetness. Outrageous! Cheeeeeers!

In times where adjuncted trash litters shelves and taplists finding stuff like this brings a smile to ny face. Made by a really small microbrewery out of New Jersey.
Muckraker Brewing - Dusk of Man Imperial Stout...
contract brewed by Twelve Percent Beer Project in New Haven for ( familiar with them @sulldaddy ?)
Brewed using malts and fermented with Scottish Heavy yeast.

Parabola 2022 Orange Bitters. This is pretty bad. I never learn to avoid fruit in stouts. Have never liked one except Double Shot w/strawberry on tap at Tree House

Same with this years Parabola ,they really pulled off some magic with it and i am lucky to be able to get it whenever i feel at the Propagator.

Brävery Brewing - The Shroud Russian Imperial Stout
These guys NAILED the Russian profile that so many syrup pastry fans complain about.

At 65 IBUs the bitterness you expect from a RIS is god damned spot on . I prefer this over Old Rasputin but only cuz the ABV is 1% higher .

They're an importer/distributor as well as a sort of brewery incubator. Lots of small craft brands that operate out of there.

I'm sending you one of these so you'll see what i mean.
    Reasons are:
    1) They're closer so more "local"
    2) 16oz format brewed at their location and 1% higher in ABV
    3) I say so

I'm real curious to check it out. You've been hyping up this california brewery I'd never heard of and it looks like they've got a nice lineup of stouts.

I've actually been loving the Crux Imperial Stout lately. It's a touch lower abv than raspy but it's damn near perfect. Rasputin is still the best value around though, and I'm into the 12 oz bottles personally.

Dark Night, a Imperial Stout and Belgian Dark Ale hybrid by Benedictine Brewery in Oregon. Run by monks from Mount Angel Abbey.

Espresso, dark chocolate but also fig and plum flavors. Dry and a good bit roasty. Fuller bodied. Overall very tasty.

Enjoying my first Burial pastry stout (for review). Had several samples at the October Burnpile festival. This one was picked up at the end of October and is made with chocolate nibs, multiple nut varieties, chocolate nibs, cherries, coconut, and banana. The discernible flavors are the nibs, nuts, and cherries. Not super sweet as the nuts are saving this from cloying. Very enjoyable beer but the style is one i can enjoy once in a great while. Rated 4.26. Nice job by the Burial brewing team!
    Cheers!
    Tom
