Goes to show the code is for the brewery, not necessarily the consumer.

The cans have normal dating in the bottom, and I've seen single 16oz for sale. But it sounds like your revisit was plenty fresh to confirm your opinion

Dunno. Didn't taste at all like what I reviewed back when, and sure didn't taste like a Pilsner (maybe a take on a Czech Pilsner with loads of diacetyl -- but I doubt that flavor was intentional).

I'm honestly skeptical on the code, but?

Found at the total wine in Laurel Maryland. I only had Summerfest once before back in 2019 I really don’t remember much about it. Overall I think it’s a decent beer I just don’t understand how this is a Czech style pils. No saaz hops and not 100% Pilsner malt.

It used to be labeled a Czech style pilsner. That is no longer the case. I will let you experts fight over which category it belongs in now.

I didn't really think it was Czech-like 20 years ago.

Yes, in the past they did market this beer as a Czech Pilsner but Summerfest 2.0 is

    “Seasonal

    Summerfest

    Refreshing Summer Lager

It’s time to soak up the sun, and this refreshing lager is the real SPF : Summer Pilsner Flavor.”

Still haven't seen this anywhere in my market. But I did find Privat Landbrauerei Schonram Pils on tap just now. That's a pilsner I could drink by the liter right there

Are the cans still brewed by Gordon Biersch?

I recall a year or 2 ago, there were 12 packs (maybe variety pack w/Schrmshaw?) on the shelf of a local store I frequent but there was no code on the packaging. Can't recall now if I opened them and they were past what I consider fresh or I just passed on them, annoyed with the lack of a date...

FWIW -- there's no mention of GB on the bottles.

Yeah, I assumed GB only did/does their canned beers because North Coast did/does not have a canning line?

As far as I know they're still brewed at Gordon Biersch and they frustratingly don't date the outside of the package. Meanwhile, 12 packs of bottles have a standard calendar date printed on the box.

I have no shortage of excellent lagers regularly available to me now, but that wasn't always the case. And Summerfest got me through those days, so I'll definitely be grabbing at least a 12 pack in appreciation.

Purchased it in the beginning of the week at my Local Pricechopper here in Keene, NH. 12 pack cans, kinda plain blue can.

Summerfest showed up here on the Grand Strand (Pawley's Island, SC exactly) a few days ago. It appears to only be in 12 packs. Price was $18.

I’m calling BS on that line that a sale rep couldn’t learn how to properly date his portfolio. I know that portfolio, it’s large. But there are only a few different dating formats. Surely the distributor could create a easylittle pamphlet for their team to keep on hand

The beer finder shows it’s distributed all over the I-95 corridor through MD as usual (farthest west is Carrol County, then probably this week Frederick, Montgomery and Washington counties will get it). That seems to be the case for most nationally distributed releases. I was at 2 different stores are Frederick on Sunday Apr 24 and nothing yet. Most likely this upcoming week. I’ve also been just ok with Summerfest, drinkable and good but always found it pedestrian for a lager. I’ll still buy a 6-er though.
