Right, what else is availabile? It's my fav style and I feel like no one else makes them regularly. CW does and it's even cheaper but I still think SJ is better. And I will never not factor the price of the beer into how much I like it. It's why I think Phase 3 is completely over rated. They don't taste anywhere near they should for their price point.

How can you not factor price into it?

Do you only drink tap water because beer is like 1000 times more expensive…

You must have mistaken me for your cicerone. I’m not under any obligation to find you an acceptable beer within your price point. I don’t like Straight Jacket and thus wouldn’t drink it whether free or if you paid me 10 times the price.

Man, my buzzed Deep Wood appreciation post got a more vigorous response than I expected.

Pretty sure the question was challenging you to provide alternatives to backup your assertion that Straight Jacket, like Deth's Tar, isn't at the pinnacle of choices on the shelf. It may not be the best beer in the world by objective or subjective measure, but a whole lot of people who drink it are going to put it in the top 10%. 5%, 1% etc. of readily available barrel-aged Barleywines (the context of the discussion you responded to).

It's my personal top choice, and I generally perceive at least 2, if not 3 dimensions.

What a needlessly hostile way to respond to someone who asked a good faith question on a message board about sharing beer discoveries and options which beer you'd prefer. Nobody suggested you were under any obligation.

Can we start over? You don't think SJ is top tier BW.

Hey man! That's a diffent opinion than most here, I'd love to hear what other BA BWs around here that you like better. I'd love to add more BWs to my list of ones to look out for!

Frankly, as someone who doesn't want to waste money trying new BA BWs (I regrettably drink less beer than I used to, and I usually drift to stouts like a good hypeboi when I'm in the mood for something BA), I'd also love to hear about what's on the shelf that rivals SJ.

But that's also not for this thread, I guess!

Pretty satisfied with the Lotto box I picked up today:
    -Ten Year Beer
    -Strawberry Jacket
    -Maple Deth
    -‘21 Deth’s Tar
Also got another 4-pack of VSO Dark Mode. VSOGDB was definitely enjoyable, but I just couldn’t pass up VSODM.

ISO: VSO Sadness & Happiness; FT: Lake MI tap water.

Seriously though, I'm just here for those @joshdeth tier likes.

If I can be super cereal for a moment though, having a second go at VSO GDB on a clean palate. This beer is spectacular and, at least for me, is just a step below VSOJ. I like it quite a bit more than VSOR and VSO Dark Mode. I'm all in on the VSO line. Love the label art on VSO GDB, and just noticed the phrase, "A Caledonian broadsword of fierce oak expression." I love you Rev. Thanks for being you and doing what you do. All happiness here.

I been tryin to land just one can of VSOGDB and i think i did, but dont know for sure.

IMO GDB is the best Rev beer next to DT so i am very curious about this release .

I grab SJ sometimes for the wife but never tried landing VSOJ and she seems to have gone all in on Wild Ales now . im not mad at that as long as she doesn't find out what Cantillon is:grimacing:

Too much tryina land VSO Series and no one seems to trade them at face value , but this i will go over for for one can, I'll prolly spring for a box
