Shit! That was probably my favorite beer I had Saturday afternoon. The beer garden was getting packed, and it's an absolutely PERFECT beer for that weather in a beer garden.

I lied. I forgot the end of year event was in January of this year.

    Re: Slow Pour

Perhaps better off in a separate thread; nonetheless, Chris addresses this regularly…Havránek has a similar viewpoint among others -

    ---

Havránek praises Chris/Notch throughout the article, for those interested in the read: “the first to understand the culture of the perfect pour, training his staff accordingly…”

Has anyone eaten at the Sicilian pizza place in the Speedway yet?

Going to a show at Roadrunner tomorrow night, and won't have enough time to do both a drink at Notch and dinner beforehand.
Trying to find out if some Notch and a slice of Sicilian is worth it, or if I should just eat at Lone Star or Lulu's.

I think the pizza is a solid B+. I think it's a bit expensive for what you get, but the pepperoni and hot honey slice is delicious. You can also grab a slice there and an empanada at Super Bien for the walk over to Roadrunner. Flatbread is also right across from Roadrunner and they usually have an excellent taplist.

It's going to be a kick-ass show tomorrow night. I've seen The Hold Steady a truly hysterical amount of times, and Dinosaur Jr.'s always a great time.

Keep an eye out for me at either Notch or the show- I will be the chubby guy with a beard. I am sure I will stand out in either crowd.

Wanted to just update and say the pepperoni with hot honey was an excellent choice paired with a German Afternoons.
Thinking about getting another slice just to see how it pairs with the Tenner.

I had the Margherita pizza last weekend, it was really good. I also had the special French pizza a couple weeks ago, equally solid.

Off topic, but speaking of pizza in the area…Leones was out of pizza yesterday so I stopped in to Mama Lisa’s next door. Got a slice of pepperoni (NY style and was more or less two slices in one) for $2.75. It was excellent.

I've had it twice on draft now! Second time was nearly a liter (the 3/4 of a liter for the price of a 1/2 always entices me with the mug club discount...).

Perfect nice weather beer garden beer.

does notch brighton have tvs at all for maybe watching celtics/heat game 2? i assume not so much in the outdoor areas, but possibly in the covered areas? and how quickly does the place get packed on a nice may friday evening?

    No tvs unfortunately.

Would be cool if they set up a screen in the biergarten for the game like they do for movie nights.

One never knows as we move into late spring/summer for crowds and who is sticking around, but I’d imagine nice nights and the after work crowd could make for a busy evening. Hard to imagine not finding some kind of space though.

I think for Pats game they did do this, but I don't know how regular that was.

Regarding how busy it is, even on super busy days there might be a short line, but the beer garden is so huge you'll always find a spot. I was there the last two Saturday afternoons which were stunning and had no problem finding space, no line either.

Also, not sure you want to watch the game after last night anyways. Better drowning your sorrows in sweet sweet Czech beer instead.
