Google Ad Redirect Reports

I had the same issue, though I was browsing the trade forum.

 

I got a virus on my old phone and I’m pretty sure it was one of these pop-ups.

 

Getting this pretty much every time I go past the home page.

Hi guys. I actually discovered this forum by simply googling the main URL of the hijacking page (bbd383ttka21). While me signing up here is not related to beer, I hope you will tolerate my post in effort to put our heads together to resolve (or at least identify the source of) this annoying browser hijacking. I hope this post is okay with the moderators/admins.

I encountered this same issue on my iPhone 13 Mini, Safari Browser with a news website I frequent (Haaretz.com - which I have a paid subscription for) - I contacted the site support and was essentially told by them that the issue is a malware ON my iPhone device, and NOT an issue with their site, and that they were neither able to replicate the issue, nor have they gotten any similar complaints from anybody else. Ok ...

They recommended that I clear my cache and run a virus/malware scanner, which I did, to no effect (the Google hijacking still happens.) I also made sure to upgrade to the latest version of iOS for iPhone.

I was also able to replicate this issue on Chrome browser on my iPhone. It appears that Brave Browser on iPhone prevents the hijacking. More recently the hijacking is getting more and more aggressive, to where it happens on the front page of the news site almost immediately. Similar to what Todd says in regards to the paid subscription that removes ads, the iPhone app for the News site does not encounter this problem.

I ran Norton Antivirus and McAfee on my iPhone 13 Mini, and there were no issues detected on my device.

While not giving much info at all, Norton Antivirus labels the site category as "Malicious Sources/Malnets". To me personally, "Malnet" would indicate that the issue is not with malware on my device, but some ad from their site (and your forum) that is redirecting me - although I am not 100% sure.

I will add that this issue is NOT happening to me on any other website, which also indicates to me that this is something external and site-specific (probably related to targeted ads), and not a malware on my device.

This issue also appears to be happening on the following Jeep forum (which uses the same forum software as this forum): https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/anyone-else-getting-this-you-won-ads.70311/ (Which I've also found through Google the same way as this forum.) It looks like one of the users on there was able to bypass the hijacking using VPN, which would again indicate to me this is a result of targeted ads. I plan to cross-post this message in that forum as well.

While we may not be able to fully resolve this issue, I would like to try to figure out if this is really an issue stemming from our devices like the support person said, OR if (as I suspect) this is an external issue which is the result of targeted ads being misused.

When I am on any beeradvocate page, it auto redirects me to these ads. This started for the first time to me today (5/14). Has never happened on any other site for me.

 

keep getting this over and over. To the point I don’t want to come by here. Does not happen on any other site. I’ll keep trying but even typing this I was hijacked and had to restart.
