#2 is also from @Roguer, and it’s a stout featuring peanut butter.

Pours a dark cola color and settles as nearly black in the glass with a dark tan head that is substantial on the pour and then evaporates faster than I’ve ever seen the head on a beer evaporate - it literally looked like a magic trick.

The nose is thick with peanut butter and milk chocolate plus a smidge of roasty char, and those notes crossover to the taste, with the peanut butter flavor very nice.

The mouthfeel is where this beer misses the mark a bit - it’s a little watery, where a fuller, creamier mouthfeel would substantially elevate this beer, IMHO.

@jonphisher, I wanted to pay tribute to our host, @GrumpyGas, so I was deciding from a selection of beers he gave me. It came down to the beer you just reviewed and this one. I selected this one. Because of the can. I am glad I did. Church Street Brewing and Art History Brewing Rock of Ages Steinbier. A favorite style of mine. It features a gorgeous copper color with a light off-white foamy top. Beautiful carbonation rising towards destiny. The smell is sweet brown bread. Lemon zest. Light tropical fruit. The flavor is spicy and sweet buttered brown toast. Brown sugar and cinnamon. Lemon and caramel. The mouthfeel is bready, full, thick, and smooth, with medium carbonation. Overall, this is a spectacular beer. Super delicious.

That is a beautiful beer…and apparently a delicious one too. I hope you enjoy that dark lager as much as I did when you try it :beers:

Boulevard has skills. That one is a favorite. It took a hiatus around here, but we just starting getting it again.

I wish I could post a pic but my host (Imgur) states that they are over capacity.
Picked this up today and I have been trying pretty much every Pilsner I can. I prefer more malty ones so not sure why I got a German Pilsner. Mox nix.
Poured yellow amber, truly transparent and the tall head was white as paper.
The aroma lost on my nose. Stupid Covid.
The taste is potent Noble hops with all that comes with them. Grassy and herbal. The malts play second fiddle with very slight biscuit flavors.
The feel is carbonated thin, not thick, not watery. Quite good.
    Cheers all!

Lost Forty Tropical Confusion IPA, 6.2% ABV; 4.18 overall

Pours a hazed orange with one finger of eggshell colored head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Tons of citrus, fades a little down the stretch

T: Sweet & tart citrus, some dryness & a little green melon up front. I get some lime as this beer warms up, along with orange sweet tart, plus dryness. Finishes a little with more sweet than tart Tangerine

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, nice balance

If this was a good as the initial nose, this would be up there; still very crushable

Newburgh is a cool brewery for multiple reasons. I had the pleasure of enjoying some beers with Chris a few times in the five years after he opened, and he is quite proud of his cream ale and brown ale, both of which I think are excellent, but he isn't afraid to go wayyyy out on a limb too, sometimes with excellent results, occasionally.... The building is old, Washington had his HQ for a year and a half a few blocks away, and the bldg. is built old school industrial. They took out some of the huge lumber used when they expanded the lower sections into a brew and barrel area, and made them into the furniture you see in the upper, huge tap room. I got to see the lowest area when we did a mini tasting down there, so cool like going back in time. Such a nice spot, too, right on the Hudson.

Yeah, I'm a homer, but folks too often overlook Newburgh when they come to visit and put breweries on the list of activities, and they deserve a visit for sure.
